Why do they make a gaming machine with a Ryzen processor, only to hobble it with one stick of RAM?

Price point I would guess and let people add RAM if they want to. For casual gamers 8 GB is adequate.

I don't game but it doesn't come out of the box with dual channel RAM. Isn't that a big deal in a Ryzen? I dunno...

I apologize but I would like to insist it depends on the user's needs. Unless, of course, a "casual" gamer has a gazillion programs running at the background; in which case he/she is not going to buy a budget gaming laptop. Hence, my point.

I agree, and I'm looking at this for regular use... but STILL the RAM is 1x8 instead of 2x4!

I read somewhere (for this model) that you can easily upgrade to at least 32 GB RAM, on your own of course. Amazon (for the same model) seems to indicate that it has two slots. See below.

According to the Crucial website it has two ram slots

So you can add another stick to get dual-channel

Memory
Maximum memory: 32GB
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1)
Standard memory: 8GB removable

Actually looks like a decent computer, except I am looking for touch screen, 16gb memory, and optical drive. Would I be able to take the memory out of my dell to use on this one?

What can you do with a touch panel anyway? I am taking an important exam and was hoping I could use it to answer multiple choice questions on the screen and jot down notes. Do touch panels work for this purpose?
