Found a great deal on the Fire 8 HD Plus.

$59.99 (+tax) shipped with promo code HSN2021

https://www.hsn.com/products/amaz...rs/9701146

Amazon Fire 8 Plus 32GB Tablet with Vouchers
regularly $134.99, on sale today for $79.99, $20 promo code brings it to $59.99 + tax

Comes bundled with:
Caseable custom case voucher
Family Tablet Essentials 11 voucher
The voucher bundles may be close to worthless, but even at $59.99 this is the best price ever for an Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus.

Original Post:
Amazon & Best Buy have sales on all of current gen of their Fire HD tablets on today, but that HSN deal looks like the best by far.

Fire HD 8 - $59.99 (Ad Supported)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TMJ1R3X/

Fire HD 8 Plus - $79.99 (Ad Supported) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0839NDRB2

Fire 10 - $94.99 (Ad Supported)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KD6YDKC

The versions without Ad-Support are also on sale.

The Fire 8 prices are just $5 higher than lowest ever per CCC. Fire 10 was $80 for Black Friday, so not as slick.

Still very good prices if you're in the market for a new Fire tablet and missed the holiday deals.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Again, that is for the standard HD8 not the Plus.

For what it's worth I have the tablet and it works great, it's really easy to install a regular android os on it and google play. I do wish I had the 10" but the 8" works well enough, am waiting for a new version of the 10" with additional ram before I consider an upgrade.

Skeptical to get one of these after getting a Fire HD 7 back in 2017. I literally use it to read the NY Times (and watch movies on VLC when I travel), but it still gets glitchy.

Have these things improved enough to be a stable e-reader?

they still sell a fire 7. that is a very budget tablet. The 8s are much nicer. I bought two of the Fire 8s (not plus) for my kids over christmas, and they've used them as e-readers and as light gaming devices and movie players non-stop since then. I've been very happy with them.

I had an HD7 and upgraded to the 8+ last year. It's a solid upgrade, not nearly as sluggish, the stereo speakers are a good upgrade, uses USB C.

I got the HD8 with Casable voucher back when QVC had it for around $60. Overall a solid deal. Custom case was completely free. Installed Google Play store with no problems. I'm getting this Plus version, too! Thanks, OP. Also applied the 5.5% AMEX offer. TY!

i don't need this, but i'm still tempted. we already have a fire 7 and an ipad mini from a few years back. we don't use either all that much. i guess i should just wait until we actually need something newer/bigger/better.

How did you get the $10 off $100 to apply? I have that saved but it's not allowing me to use it. Did you buy 2 of these?
I didn't end up buying it at Target, I put in a later comment that I got the one from HSN. The $10 off will appear if your cart total is $100. So it would only really work if you bought the 10" for $94 and added a $6 filler item. In the end not that great a deal but if you already needed something from Target anyway it AND you prefer the 10" it could just work out. $10 off is better than no $ off at Amazon.

I was turned off by Amazon's ads. I borrowed a family member's tablet and got annoyed quickly.

Can they be turned off on Any fire tablet after purchase? Or do you have to purchase ad free from the start?

There is something called "XDA Amazon Tool Box". This software is for a PC (windows machine)... when you hook up your tablet, you can make the fire tablet look like a stock android tablet.

But I am not crazy about the Fire HD 8 + or 8. See my next post.

The simple truth is that this tablet is slow, even with more RAM.

To get a decent Android experience you need at least a Fire HD 10 and you need to use XDA Amazon Tool Box, I also like to use the app "Killapps". This is my opinion... but I do have the Fire HD 10 and many other android tablets.

I can not recommend any tablet with less horse power then the Fire HD 10 (octa core) so this HD 8 (Quad Core) just does not do it.

Also, if you read the threads of people who own both of them, they seem to say the same thing.

I just bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab A, does anybody have an opinion on whether this is the better way to go?
