Returning to the Lenovo Smart Clock, can anyone comment if the Echo Show 5 compares to this. I have a new one that I haven't used and I was wondering if this is better. Obviously I am not too "smart" about these devices.
I would think the Echo Show 5 would be a much better choice just because of all it's capabilities compared to the Lenovo Clock Essential. I just grabbed a Show 5 at Meijer for $40.00 yesterday along with a few $10.00 Google homes to replace my MinisSmilie

I got this clock the last time it was on SD and it's great. Several comments said it's too bright even on the dimmest setting but I think they probably didn't adjust the brightness on the app. It auto-adjusts based on how bright the room is. I'm very sensitive to light at night and this clock is perfect.

The combo appears in the shopping cart as $16.66 for the clock and $13.33 for the bulbs. I wonder if returning the bulbs means the price is adjusted for the speaker.
If you return either item, bb take off the discount and return you the difference. If the difference is 0, your refund is 0. Happened to me.

Two totally different products, really. The Echo Show has a screen to show videos, visual information, etc. This is just a clock with Google Assistant built in.

So the clock will not show time unless you hook up to internet. I would love the clock for time only but no go if i have to set up with net. To many things zooming in on our conversaions as it is. Yes i believe that!!!

I bought it last time. The first two bulbs work ok. The last two bulbs was put on the same switch and started at the same time to set up and then here come trouble. Google home app could not connect, and then I download CbyGE app to control them successfully. However, the last two bulbs never connect to Google Home app or Alexa app (note that the first two work well). After resetting them a few times (with the unbelievable on/off pattern, 8 second and 2 seconds .....) I gave up.

Unethical? Yes. Fraudulent? No.
Try Googling the term "return fraud" sometime. If you have to "trick" the store into the return, then that's fraud. Granted no store is actually going to press charges since it's not going to be worth their time, but just because you're likely to get away with it doesn't change the fact that its' fraud.

Not only is there no battery backup, it requires internet to get the time.

There's no crystal in it like a normal clock.
Some of the features of this clock are interesting including the auto dimming however A clock that requires constant internet connectivity to show time is not for me. I would buy if it was only needed occasional connection, on-demand or one-time... My internet is unpredictable and if my alarm for work did not go off it would be bad. Guess I will stick to the legacy night-stand clock with battery backup

The Lenovo clock is sold at $25 elsewhere, and is typically a freebie/discounted item. So its a deal, but unless you need both I dont think its worth the return trick gamble.
Where have you seen it given away as a freebie? I've seen plenty of $25 sales, but haven't seen it for free anywhere.

caveat here: the C by GE app is fantastic at controlling the bulbs...unfortunately the C by GE skill that hands that control off to Alexa is complete garbage, and instantly loses connection to the bulb after it discovers it. Really annoyed by this.

It's a smart clock, what do you expect? Why would you buy this as just a clock when there are much better regular clocks for a fraction of the price?
