My local Audi dealer in Texas just emailed me about 2020 A3's now at $9,000 off MSRP to $26,815 and 2020 S3's now at $10,000 off MSRP to $39,110.

Just passing this along. Happy hunting/negotiating!

We have one- 100% get the TDI version if you can. Super comfy car with all the bells and whistles (nobody makes interiors like Audi), and the amount of torque is INSANE. It's like 420ft/lbs- you get thrown back in your seat at red lights lol!

700+ miles on a tank of diesel isn't a bad perk either. Other than changing the fuel filter ever 20K miles, the maintenance is nearly identical to that of a gasoline engine.

Honestly the interiors are already top notch. You won't be disappointed with an older model Smilie

Agreed, Germans are not reliable as Japanese. But Japanese cant match the solid build and driving quality of Germans. It all boils down to preference if you want reliability then Japanese or if you want to have a better driving dynamics and solid feel then Germans.

Not sure this is the same dealership, but FYI this is what was quoted for me for everything. See attached. Seems they add additionally an essential package for $887.

Where is their "doc fee"? Don't see it listed and rarely will dealers sell without one. They aren't putting any other junk in there besides that package so that's a plus. That's still a true $8000 discount. Not bad at all. Are you going to push for them to remove it? (I'm guessing they won't without a big fight)

I have owned 5 Audi's last one was in 2015 Allroad, no issues great cars, but the price just keeps shooting up so if you can get one on sale or whatever do it. You want the awd Prem Plus and up. I scored during the lock down a great deal from MB lease return auction via a dealer and ended up buying a MB GLC 300 4Matic for a super cheap price. It drives great and so on, BUT Audi's offer so much more inside the car for UI.

Audi you just reach like you know where it's at and it's there, MB is so a%% backwards and they charge you for everything single thing, I was so shocked and felt like really a 50k SUV has a sound system that's worse than my Prius.... The dealers are worse, they say it's OK if things break bring it in under warranty and we fix it all with a smile on our face... So what happens when the warranty runs out. The list goes on and MB has A and B services 600.00 / 900.00 , Audi everytime you take the car in they do part of the service. It goes on and on, so yea Audi's are nice cars if you get them on sale, I think I would trade my SUV for a like wise Q5 anyday.....
If you know/have a good tech, really no need to do the A/B service at the dealer. Just shop around the web for best parts price, and pay the labor. FCP Euro is one of my fav as they offer lifetime parts warranty.

MB is def going back ward. Chassis is still the best, but the interior is truly lacking. Got the A6 last time for over $20k off, leased it, inside is top notch. Though the handling on the Aaaaaaa6 still needs work.

Audi's interior design concept and material is truly the finest

If anyone in the Baltimore/Washington DC area is interested, I have a line on a A3 Quattro for $30k plus taxes, tags, fees, etc after $9k discount (MSRP $39k with options). Send me a PM and I'll give you the details.

Edit: Here is the exact car I found at Audi of Annapolis -

https://www.audiannapolis.com/new...7b6167.htm

It's an A3 Quattro in Monsoon Gray with black interior. The salesman I spoke with who agreed to the $9k discount off MSRP was Brian Moore (888-856-6463). I decided not to purchase it and it's still available as of 3 pm Monday, 1/25.

That's not normal your car is burning oil. There is probably an issue with a gasket a cylinder ring or whatever. Bmw, Audis and some volvos are known for that.

Toyota had to extend some model engines for the same reason.
My toyota had that problem. Had to prove it was burning 1qt every 1k miles and they repaired it for free bc it was a design flaw. It was better and now it's at 1qt/2k miles.

Since I see this thread has now turned into Audi reliability discussion, let me add my personal experience.

Bought a new Audi that my wife uses as her daily, at least she did before the pandemic started and she started WFH. Have not had one issue with the car in the past 3+ year. The whole family loves the car, it has been a joy to own and a lot of fun to drive. I will say the annual oil changes are a little over $200, which is more than I was used to. Hopefully the reliability holds through owning it outside of warranty as well.

The Audi A3/S3 uses the VAG EA888 family of engine. Thermostat housing is known to go bad as early as 30k and by the time you hit 60k you most definitely need the thermostat housing replace which cost roughly 1300 for parts and labor. The replacement will last roughly about the same since VAG never fix the flaw on the thermostat housing. Despite the flaw overall it's not a bad car
As a owner of a first year model Golf MK7 with that engine mine barely started to weep at 101k in which i replaced it myself in 5 hours of my time and $230 in parts (INA parts which is original) the car otherwise has been superbly reliable. Meanwhile i work at a very busy Toyota dealer and we replace leaking water pumps on many Toyota models under warranty all day long some with low as 35k miles so dont think its just a VW problem. Timing cover leaks is another problem with many 2ZR and 2GR engines, we do those at least one a day. The halo reliability brand as Toyota seem isnt as what they used to be, just saying. We currently have 3 tacomas with diff problems, one which totally stripped its ring and pinion as it had no oil from a leaking diff with only 17k on it. Not to mention the ungodly number of 2010-2015 Priuses and Camry with oil consumption problems.

How many miles are on it? Speaking broadly, German reliability is fine in warranty and can be fine outside of it but can also be a nightmare.

Also, you don't have to go to the dealer to keep your warranty. I haven't been in a dealer for non-warranty work in 20 years. Find an independent mechanic to pay labor and bring your own oil and filter. I don't give stealerships a dime.
