What do you recommend?
I want a set it and forget it solution. Sadly the only ones I can find and cheap and have terrible image quality.

I get that it's set it and forget it for most people. But it still has glowing lights and beeps and sticks out in front of the mirror.
I want something discreet that I can install in my dad's car, and he doesn't even remember it's there until a time where he actually needs to pull footage off of it.

And no beeps at all.
And something like this is the closest you can get with a dashcam for set and forget if you hide the wiring and hard wire it or get an OBD plugin. The SD card needs to be reformatted and checked every few months.
Or, get your father a horse that wears a GoPro.

Does this keep it running while car is off in case of hit and run, or is it strictly switched power?
PS: Oh man those reviews are scary, did you see the videos?
Also those who consider this, perhaps get polarized filter if it fits on this.
