Would these be better for music or more of a home theater setup? I'm trying to figure out what these are intended for.

home theater mainly but it should work well for music. but, keep in mind that most music is 2 channel... with occasional 5 or 7 channel mixes on higher end products, such as dvd-a, sacd, etc

Would rather get this from Costco and add the sub they currently have on sale.https://www.costco.com/klipsch-re...65767.html

The R-625FA and the r-52c are much better. The cheapest I could piece that Costco deal together by finding speakers on sale is over $1500.

This is a better deal than the Costco deal that I bought a few months ago. This includes the sub for $100 more!

Can anyone suggest a good 5.1.2 set between 1-2k?

I know but I've read that the atmos included in these speakers doesn't give same affect as in ceiling. Plus I see these klipsch deals posted all the time so hard to know which is actually a good deal with all the different models changing.

I'm in the same boat, trying to look for an upgrade to my current setup within that same price range of 1-2k

For the atmos speakers don't worry too much about brand or getting the best. Go grab some ceiling speakers from Monoprice, Micca, Dayton Audio or Polk. Whatever floats your boat or is on sale will be good enough for the effects coming from above.

For the rest, go demo in person a bunch of stuff. If it's at Best Buy and is in the open area then keep moving. Terribly unrealistic listening environment. If it's there Magnolia section inside a room then 👍. If you can't go to the store then just buy some L/R from a place with a great return policy and demo at home. Don't buy a ton at once, that's rude. But start somewhere and if you love the first pair then great.

Key thing is to demo. Each brand has their own sound characteristics and no one else has your ears, you need to find the best pairing.
