It's not a good U-lock, but cables are worse. Consider the upgrade for $5.

Looks like completely garbage.
I picked this up yesterday at walmart ...they had a ton of bike accessories on clearance.. tires tubes helmet other locks horns training wheels etc..
Agreed... Almost all of the bad reviews are that the lock cylinder fails and you cannot unlock the bike and have to cut it off. Internals rust as well. For 5 bucks I was considering getting 5 for family biking trips if we stop to get icecream or something but can you imagine not being able to unlock it when you come back outside. And most of the bad reviews said the lock failed after only a few days or weeks. One person said they opened and closed it 3 times on their lap and after the third locking could not unlock it again. Never got to use it.

If you're wondering, yes, these are easy to break. Get something heavy duty if you want to leave it outside.

These locks are OK if you keep them lubed (esp after being in the rain) and check to make sure they're working before you leave your home. I use them to lock my helmets, etc to my bicycles but I wouldn't use them to secure my bicycles

It's a $5 lock. If your bikes are worth something and plan to leave you bike out for like 15-30 minutes, you need to invest in something more reliable to scare off and turnoff thieves.
