why in the world would they make the handles plastic? Terrible idea.
Why wouldn't anyone want to display their silverware?
The obvious answer is this is for those who do not have drawer space for flatware and also for more convenience. Thus, it's not about displaying. People also hang cooking utensils in their kitchens or place them in a container atop the counter for the same reasons.

Apparently t's trendy to stick your silverware in a decorative cup of some sort out in the counter. My mom has this set up, I've explained the situation due to covid, people coughing or sneezing, virus in the air, virus lands on utensils. To each their own.

Judging by the photo, the utensils look thin and could easily get bent. I've seen better plasticware than this.

exactly. Bought a couple sets for my RV. Going to see if I can knock off the plastic bits to make them even more compact and hopefully make all fit on one caddy
