Need a phone to trade in to tmobile and this seemed good enough. was in stock near 94065 and was able to pickup one.

Had at least 3 more left at union city, ca walmart

is locked, but for tmobile trade in should be fine

[UPDATED]
Per https://slickdeals.net/f/14792473-ymmv-straight-talk-samsung-s9-124?p=144879556#post144879556 the phones are actually unlocked and will get locked if you boot-up the phone first time with sim slot in. So better off removing the sim and then starting the phone.
thanks

note from quantecipher:
The phone is factory unlocked out of the box. You don't have to perform the voodoo ritual of first power on with no SIM card to unlock it.

Pretty sure Walmart employees use SD, they get the first dips.

Went to 2 Walmarts, 1 with 6+ stock and the other with 2-3 and both stores don't have any.

Lot of Walmart duck chasing tonight.

Good luck to everyone that chases them. You will need it.

They had them. Just wouldn't give them to you or look for them. No way that their inventory is off by that much. Cell phones like this are kept under lock and key.

If I wanted to buy the phone now and get it unlocked, is it affordable?

I was looking for an older android device around the $150 price range. I was keeping an eye out for an older Samsung or possibly the Pixel 3A.

So just buy this phone for $124 without any contract and can be traded for s21 or have to unlock first? Do we have to purchase any straight talk prepaid plan? How this works to trade in for S21?

You can trade it in without any issue. Samsung doesn't care if it's locked or not.

Only cares what condition it's in. They're picky about the condition (broken glass, minor scratches, not factory reset, etc.).
