This is the Explore Air SE. It's a Walmart Black Friday model and is identical to the Explore Air 1.

The only difference is the SE has a reverse color scheme of top white and bottom mint, while the regular Air models have mint on top and white on bottom.

The difference between Air and Air 2 is that the Air 2 can do the same job in half the time. The thing is, it does this at twice the speed by dropping some accuracy. Not opinion, it's literally in the Cricut FAQS.

So many folks end up using the Air 2 at reduced speed anyways if their job is complicated. Because of that it's not essential unless you plan to make this a business. And really if you are, you should be buying the Maker model.

This is a huge value even at the full price of $140. Grab one if you can!

help advise why the maker is better if you're trying to make a business? My gf is starting to print shirts for ebay and i wanna know if upgrading to the maker as a surprise gift would be a good gift for her?

Technically, if every second counts the Cricut air 2 and Maker have the same 2x speed.

There is not much advantage to the Maker for a shirt business.

That said if she was creative and sacrificed cost... The Maker would allow more ingenuity when it comes marketing and packaging.

She could have the Maker cut her company logo on a wood disc with 2 slits and use a ribbon to the shirts using the wood piece as a belt... As an example.
