This is a great price for a tempered glass chair mat - even cheaper than most hard plastic plastic chair mats of the same size.

I am kind of pissed, I bought this for $60 three weeks ago and thought that was an awesome price. Amazon won't adjust my price so I'm tempted to return and re-buy but I was so happy to get this for $60 that I don't want to take advantage of Amazon, I'm sure the shipping for this is more than $15 due to the size and weight. Especially since before finding this glass mat I bought a hard plastic one for $50 (which was the best deal I could find for plastic) and I am returning that one which is now selling for $60 [amazon.com].

As for the quality, unlike plastic mats, glass is glass so all tempered glass mats should be of comparable quality. I'm happy with mine and have no complaints.

Edit: Just noticed this was a few bucks cheaper last February and that was a popular FP deal.

I have 2 of these in my office and they are amazing (I got the larger size). I'm a big guy, 6'1" 350. No issues. My chair is big and heavy as well. One for me, one for my kiddo.

These do not suffer from the cracking that happens over time, the pot holes in the carpet, or the fact that a larger guy like myself will wear out a plastic one in a year and spend 30 dollars on the plastic ones.

Huh weird. Things that I didn't know existed. Though, I've never worn out a plastic one before. I guess I'll wait for the inevitable glass chair mat with RGB.

Costco's everyday price on this is $49.99. Lowes has it for $47.xx. Not as hot as the OP is making it out to be.

Where were y'all last night when I pulled the trigger on Amazon?! Wink I'd rather have bought from Costco but oh well. Either way its a good deal. I am currently using a cheapo Costco plastic mat but the new rug in my office is too thick for it. I was also a bit incredulous about a glass chair mat but reviews are solid. Mine is due to arrive tomorrow so it'll be nice to be able to move around a bit.

Yeah, just seems like you're just asking for something like that to happen.

I wanted a custom size. Glass was expensive, too small and I was worried my chair will roll a little too easily. So I created my own using nice looking stick on linoleum tiles from Home depot. I pasted them on a thin white wall panel from Home Depot, which I cut (using a razor blade) to the exact size I wanted. Very durable, and chair doesn't roll too easily..

Example of stick on tiles:

Wall Panel choices (not sure these are the same, as I just visited home depot and found them)
https://www.homedepot.com/p/EUCATILE-32-sq-ft-96-in-x-48-in-Hardboard-Thrifty-White-Tile-Board-HDDPTW48/205995949#overlay
https://www.lowes.com/pd/47-75-in-x-7-98-ft-Smooth-White-Wall-Panel/3015239
https://www.lowes.com/pd/47-75-in-x-7-98-ft-Smooth-Brown-Wall-Panel/3014304

Might not be a huge savings, but you get a perfect size (I wanted it longer than move sold) and I wanted something that would not damage my wood flooring, smooth with no dimples.

I am guessing that it must be for fairly light people.
I can't see 250 lbs Bubba (or my mother in law) at the office being able to roll back and forth on this without it shattering.

Plus, there's an issue with tempered glass shattering for no reason at all. [youtu.be]

Exactly. Tempered glass like my desk was made of a few years ago that looked so nice and just broke in the middle of the night for no reason. Then the company wanted me to box it and ship it back to them. Never again.

Thanks, I needed to replace my 5 year old plastic one that is falling apart. I don't have a Costco membership so this was a good deal for me.

Be super careful when ordering these glass mats, I ordered one and it didn't survive the shipping. I noticed when I got the box that it had a weird shape to it, so I opened it up carefully to check and glass spilled all over the place. I would be too afraid having one of these if you have children, I would bet a toy hitting the edge of this could break it.
