Great book. Reads like a movie.
Free at my library. Ebook and audio book, easy access online. The US library system is probably the best or close to best on the planet considering that it is free.
I hate most fiction books, but read this as a part of a work book club and couldn't put it down. Love the WW2 France setting. Absolutely loved it and at certain times I was literally holding my breath while reading it. I liked it so much I never partook in that book club again because I knew I'd be let down by future reads.

I am glad to hear that someone enjoyed it. I heard the hype about this one years ago but could not even get halfway through it. Writing style was just not for me I guess.

Agreed. Rollercoaster of emotions. I stopped reading it momentarily during a certain event towards the end of the book because of how overwhelmed I felt after.

I read it and really can't tell you what its about. I'm either not smart enough or it could be it simply wasn't great. I never heard what won it the pullitzer prize. Maybe look into that and then see if it is a book that is up your alley.

I've read hundreds of books and this one is in my top 10 of ones I recommend for others to read. Just an amazing viewpoint from different sides of WW2, from a alternative aspect.

This is one great book, especially for the serious reader. I've borrowed the book from the library and also listened to the audiobook version. Look forward to rereading it on my kindle.

I agree, I struggled with this one. About halfway through I finally got interested enough to push through the last half. Fortunately, I borrowed it online and didn't pay a dime.

I had just read "Beneath a Scarlet Sky" (based on a true story) and "The Nightingale" and had asked for recommendations for another 5 star WWII read. Unfortunately, this was not it. Currently reading "The Things We Cannot Say" and am enjoying it.
