I was in the market for a non touchscreen laptop with the latest generation of Intel processor. Screen and battery aren't going to win it any awards. Though, for an 11th gen i5 with 16 GB of RAM laptop that will sit parked on a desk for most of it's life, this is a decent deal.

The TN panel is for the 1366 x 768 resolution display. The Wide-Viewing Angle (WVA) panels are for the 1920 x 1080 resolution displays.

Pretty good deal except that it is 3k series, so not sure how the build would be.

Specwise, I think it is a solid business laptop... almost... except the weight. Why is this so heavy??? And the 4-hour battery life?? That sounds like the battery life of some gaming laptop.
Assuming the newer generation CPUs consume less power, the battery doesn't need to be big (-> so expect a lighter laptop) and the battery life would be longer. Something doesn't match up for me.

I bought this this morning!! ok... so there was a trick to get around in store only. my store only had one in stock. (90 mi away)

add to cart
find nearest store
then edit in cart for one more (so they don't have it in stock)
then shipping option is made available!

shipping for free, arriving tomorrow.

Sorry to TC, but I never really understood Inspirons. If you stalk the Dell outlet for a few weeks you might find a 7000 for 50 bucks more.

But a 3000 series? It's average or below at all most everything.
Below average battery but still heavy, screen is not good for this price point, and (as mentioned upthread) the 3000 has down right poor build quality. The good points? 11th gen i5, and 16mb of ram. But that's about it.

It's like a Chevy Cruze with a body kit and exhaust job. It might look and sound good, but underneath it's still a Chevy Cruze.

11th gen i5 is great but I'm 95% sure Dell limits the chip to like 15 watts or so in this laptop, which makes it as slow as the 10th gen it's replacing.
