I was in the market for a non touchscreen laptop with the latest generation of Intel processor. Screen and battery aren't going to win it any awards. Though, for an 11th gen i5 with 16 GB of RAM laptop that will sit parked on a desk for most of it's life, this is a decent deal.

Assuming the newer generation CPUs consume less power, the battery doesn't need to be big (-> so expect a lighter laptop) and the battery life would be longer. Something doesn't match up for me.

But a 3000 series? It's average or below at all most everything.
Below average battery but still heavy, screen is not good for this price point, and (as mentioned upthread) the 3000 has down right poor build quality. The good points? 11th gen i5, and 16mb of ram. But that's about it.
It's like a Chevy Cruze with a body kit and exhaust job. It might look and sound good, but underneath it's still a Chevy Cruze.

Any suggestions? Which one is better for the bucks? Thanks!!
