Philips name is licensed by Funai, who also sells Magnavox, Sanyo, and Kodak. Appears to be a very low quality set in every way.
Better to spend a little more on a TCL 75" Roku TV, which I can confirm have a great picture and smooth interface. Best Buy currently has a 4-series for under $700: LINK[bestbuy.com]

That 75" TCL is Android TV instead of Roku, not too much different. It was $500 (?!) for black friday, maybe it'll reach that again for the sb.

Biggest difference being the quality of TCL versus the cheaper TV brands like ONN, Philips, and all the other cheapest tier TVs. Even if you like Roku's simple interface more than android, TCLs android is probably faster to use/learn than Roku on a philips

Haven't there been LG's etc...ie..top tier brands.....at this price point?

Most of the TV's that have appeared at this price point have had poor reviews and ratings. The TCL is currently the best bang-for-the-buck 75" you can buy under $900 or so. If I was spending $900 or more, I'd go for the well-regarded Hisense or step up further to a P-series Vizio for max features.

What kind of era I'm living when Philips is considered inferior to TCL?!? Am I missing something?
The current large format TCL screens have performed quite well in the "budget" category... much higher than the entry level "top tier brand" sets in many cases. Feel free to peruse RTNGS.com, which is commonly referred to here on SD when it comes to TV comparisons: https://www.rtings.com/tv
The brands Funai licenses (Magnavox, Sanyo, etc) are bottom of the barrel. Just read the reviews on the product page for this item!
I own a 2019 model 75" TCL 4-series and have found it to be excellent for the price. I also have a 2020 Vizio M-series that's barely a month old and it's not much of an improvement over the TCL, to be honest, aside from a few "features" that don't really make it exceptionally different outside of gaming. The Vizio has the upgraded "quantum dot" display, but the TCL is arguably more attractive in general use!
Not only that, but the new Vizio has already frozen a couple times in just a few weeks, which required pulling the plug to fully reset (simple power-cycling didn't work), and the SmartCast interface isn't nearly as smooth on the new Vizio as the Roku interface is on the year-old TCL. The TCL does suffer from a weak wifi signal at times, but it hasn't had any functional issues like the Vizio.
I guess what I'm saying is...get with the times! "Philips" (aka: Funai) is definitely a step below the TCL sets in this size range!

I have not seen a Philips in ages.
I'm certain that it is a Chinese company that has leased the name.

Philips has nothing to to with this TV other than the name on it. They lease their name to a Chinese company that slaps it on their TVs.
Thats why the name of the TV does not matter as much as the real specs of the TV.
The blacks are very very deep on this TV if you do not turn it on.
