I know the usual complaints are screen quality and soldered RAM, but is 16gb and the 250 nits IPS sufficient for school work, docs and internet browsing?

Yes, but only indoor lighting.

I have a 300nit laptop, and no way I can use it outside in bright sunlight even in shade.

16gb RAM and Ryzen are plenty for what you mention.

It is more that sufficient for that. If you are not using this outdoor or very brightly lit environments and not using it for serious Photo and Video editing work, it is perfectly fine and in fact, more than enough for your needs. You can play older titles on it and most Massive Multiplayer Online games are also playable. The Processor is very strong at this price and can do a lot of demanding works.

I have this one, and so far it has been great. I only use it inside, and I haven't had a problem with it. I have even done some gaming with it (Star Wars Battlefront II).

This has been at this price before (multiple times), but it comes and goes (In and out of stock?) It usually doesn't last too long at this price. I like mine and my daughter likes hers. A little worried about some of the reviews, but we will see in a few months.

This hit the sweet spot for me for CPU, RAM, touch screen and pen. I was looking for a good computer to use for interviews (video calls and whiteboard-style drawings) and this has everything I needed without breaking the bank.

I almost got this last time it became available. I could live with the rather dim display, but dealer breaker was the USB-C port does not support display output (which is surprising these days, esp. since it does support Power Delivery). So you can only connect one external monitor via HDMI, unless you're willing to go with a DisplayLink solution.

I have the i5 version that I could still return for this, my version has 16/512 and WiFi 6 - got it for 549 with some other discounts bringing it to around 500 at staples. Bought the pen - was 30 bucks. So I am in 530 for the i5. Don't use a lot of storage as I use cloud for everything. Tempted to get the AMD - biggest gripe on the i5 I have is that the fan frequently comes on, and it runs hot. Not sure if the AMD's are any better here. Any help would be appreciated.

If I was still in the market for a 2in1 I'd have jumped on this immediately. I was looking at this specific one but it was $700 for what felt like the longest time on amazon. Jumped on the refurbished acer that popped up a couple weeks back and have been loving that one so far but 16gb ram and an amd cpu would've been nice, though that's 400 compared to 600 so whatever I guess lol

one thing I did specifically look for in 2in1s was having a pen holder/pen slot. definitely feel like I needed one (and in particular the pen included from my acer seems very obscure to find a replacement for the slot should I ever lose it). not sure how this one here works and the model of it but just something to keep in mind

Bro... What are you talking about? 16GB and Ryzen 4500U and you're still asking if you can do school work... What do you think you need to do school work and some browsing?

I've had this computer for 6+ months. I use it for normal day-to-day activities as well as higher-end apps. I can edit 4K GoPro, 2.7K Mavic Mini videos and photos without any issues. I love that it charges via USB-C as well.
