I have 16 of these same bulbs and the Essential Clock. I'm very happy with both products. You don't need a hub with these WiFi Direct Connect lights, it's the Bluetooth bulbs that require either a hub or a first party Google Home. I've owned the C by GE Bluetooth bulbs before and returned them.

If you purchased the C by GE Bluetooth bulbs elsewhere previously you can just buy a C by GE smart plug for $10 and that will work as a hub for the Bluetooth Bulbs (there are actually several C by GE devices that will work as a hub). The marketing is confusing even support agreed on that.

One funny part of the Bluetooth bulbs is the factory reset process. They make you turn the light off for 5 seconds then back on for 8 seconds like 10 times in a row. It's comical when they read the script.

anyone know of smart bulbs with higher lumens than these? looking for like 1500+ Thanks!

Nevermind, I think I figured it out..? Correct me if I'm wrong, I can use a21s instead of a19s right? Read that the a21 are larger to give bigger surface area to deal with heat issues. Just want to be sure--if someone can confirm that'd be great.

Thanks

I have the clock. It usually works but over the past year it has lost internet connection a couple of times and the alarm did not go off. It seems like poor design to not fall back to a local buzzer/chime/etc.. The mic is bad. I get seriously frustrated with the device. It does not work as well as my other nest devices.

The sound is what I would expect from an alarm clock. I am pleased with it because my expectations are low. It is great for waking up to music and playing nose to go to sleep by. I have nice speakers in the living room for relaxing and listening to music.

I would not buy this again but it is good enough that I will keep using it. It you mainly want the bulbs this is a nice little bonus.

First, as deals go, this is a good deal. I already have a couple of these light bulbs so I'll be using 2 more and give 2 to my step-daughter.
I've been dissapointed in the clock for 2 shortcomings:
1. The nightlight goes on when the alarm is triggered. When you press the alarm button to stop the alarm, the light remains on. I've reported this to Lenovo and they acknowledge the bug.
2. You can't temporarily disable an alarm without deleting the whole thing. For example, the night before a holiday or your wake up before the alarm and don't want it to go off.

I agree that both of those are an issue. I have this and the nightlight only going off when telling it to turn it off sucks.

Picked up this deal and I'm pleased with the clock. Needed something for my desk to remind me of the time, it flys by and I don't even notice. The white numbers on a black face looks stellar with my other items.

Haven't hooked up the bulbs yet, but happy so far.

Seems like the little Echo Show 5 would be way more useful as a bedside clock. They can usually be picked up for $10.00 more minus the bulbs of course.

I got these last week as well despite some negative comments about the bulbs. They have worked really well for me so far - we'll see about long term issues others have experienced.

Setup was incredibly easy, just plug in the bulb, and use the C by GE app to connect to it. Google and Alexa both recognized the bulbs right away.

The clock setup was super simple with the Google Home app too. Bright easy to read display with the outside temperature also shown. Up top there are easily accessible volume, play, and power(?) buttons.
So you were able to control the lights from Alexa or it only recognized them? For my C by GE stuff Alexa always gives me a "cannot connect to server" error. Based on Amazon reviews I'm certainly not the only one with that issue. If you could share what you did to get them to work, it would be greatly appreciated.

Google Home seems to work fine with C by GE but connecting to Alexa has been a nightmare and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Can you turn down the lighted numbers? Don't want anything too bright in my bedroom.
