R263s have been $199/ea in past sales, otherwise these all match the lowest prices I can recall. Over the course of a few sales I've picked up the R263s, RC263, and R162s to fill out a 5.1 system (with HSU sub). For the price I've been extremely happy.

Yes, the RC263 is worth the extra $50 and is a steal at $150. Make sure it fits as it's a big center.
Yes. Just finished a theater basement remodel. Came from a Jamo setup to the R263/RC263/R162s and the difference in sound is night and day.

They are aesthetically pleasing too. Here's my setup

Bought the RC263 on one of their previous sales and it's been great. It's definitely a monster center speaker so do measurements for the spot you want to put it.

how is the 252 center speaker. Wish i saw this earlier. i have andrew jones center (actually whole atmos setup) and feel like we struggle to hear voices. Unfortunately the 263 is sold out, or any other recommendations for a $200-ish center.

It's not really a good idea to mix your Center channel speaker with L/R fronts from a different series let alone a completely different Brand. 100% true for music, less so if your just using your setup for TV / Movies.

Is your Receiver able to adjust just the Center Speaker to try and compensate?

On a side note the R263 Tower is now OOS for those considering it. I went ahead and took the R152 / RC252 plunge.

Thanks for the reply. Ive read that when looking into a new center. Not sure I could hear the difference. Unfortunately my setup is still only year or two old so not looking to replace towers just yet. I could mess with the EQ some more. onkyo tx-rz630

That's a pretty capable Receiver. Below is a link to the Operators manual. After a quick check, have a look at page 113 to see if there is something there to help with adjustments.

Hopefully that helps

When do you think the next sale will be? The 263 Towers & Center are sold out. I'm trying to do a full 7.1 system.

Just to share my experience. After much reading, I ordered the RC263, 2x R253s, and an R-12 on Tuesday to replace my 12-year old HTIB speakers. They arrived on Thursday—I was shocked how quickly they were shipped and delivered. The R-12 box basically had a whole corner torn off of it, and one of the R253 boxes had a big tear in the side where something had hit it. Surprisingly, neither had any damage, and all pieces were in pristine condition. These speakers are heavy, well-built, and extremely large. The center is huge as described by others; I mean, cost me some capital with my wife when she saw the box and asked me what the heck it was. I'm using an Onkyo TX-NR686 receiver. After calibration and some adjustment, the sound is amazing (my primary usage is home theater, not music). I'm extremely pleased with this setup, and grateful that I caught this sale from SD. I have a 65" Sony TV that I mounted on a stand on top of my entertainment console. Fortunately, it was super easy to raise my TV a few extra inches to accommodate the monster RC263. Link below to the stand that I'm using and highly recommend. It has plenty of room to provide the clearance needed for the center, and is very stable.

All indications are that this Reference Line is being phasing out. So no idea if there is to be any deals moving foreword. BUT there has been three or so sales over the last year so who knows for sure. This Reference line seems to better than avg. quality Speakers that Infinity didn't really get behind to promote. I won't speculate what that means moving forward for the Brand.

Yeah I don't want to buy the bookshelf rears and maybe sub, if I can't get the fronts and center.

I have an old set of speakers I'm trying to move to another setup.

Anything close to this price but better for a 7.1?

I don't necessarily need a sub included.

Many people have made that claim over the last 5 years. They're still in production and still making money off a 7yr old design, because they're an excellent price-to-performance line. They're not going away anytime soon. The R&D has been paid and it's much more profit now.

Infinity Reference is a great great high-end, entry-level line. Some may even say they're a very decent mid-level line. IMO, they outperform any speakers in their sale price range.

That's good to hear. Hope they get restocked and put on sale again soon.

The measurements bore out that they trump a lot of mid level speakers, especially the RC263. Aesthetically however its not gonna win any awards.

The Wife Approval Factor is also rather quite poor.

^ Everything he said. Though you have to admit, very few mid-level and no entry-level speakers are built using this [crutchfieldonline.com] quality and construction.

Does anyone have their RC263 mounted? I think this is the route I want to take, right into the studs that are mounting the TV above. Looking for mount suggestions
