They dropped the 7's in 2016. It is true that this past October this version came out - and I think it's just white to match the PS5. Don't know if any tech improvements.
I'm pretty happy with these. I got them from GS using a lot of reward points so the price was good. They do distort a bit during explosions but I am comparing them to my multi-thousand dollar surround sound system so its a bit unfair. That said, the 3D audio is good and there is a lot of customization.
One tip I found is to raise the volume on the PS4/5 to the max for the headphones and lower the volume on the headphones themselves. When you do the opposite and have the volume down on the system and compensate with the volume control on the headphones you get some background hiss. The other way around is perfect.
The only difference I know of between the two is that the wireless transceiver is a USB-C design here that can take different adapters whereas the 7 uses a USB-A dongle. You CAN plug the USB-C directly into the PS5 but it will block part of the close by USB-A port. I have it running through the USB-A converter on the back of the console and that works well...my only complaint is the USB-A dongle is stupidly long.
The reason I would maybe still go pulse, even aside from being $50 less, the integration with the PS5 is very clean. When you mute the headset the mute light lights up on the controller (maybe it does with this Arctis, but the Pulse for sure does). The volume adjustments and battery life show on the PS5 itself, it just... works.
Again, none of that is to say the Arctis isn't perfectly fine also, I just can't imagine between my PC Arctis experience and my Pulse 3D experience, that there is really $50+ in extra value there.
