Amazon [amazon.com] has the iRobot Roomba i6+ for 549.99.This is the Amazon specific version of the i7+. The i8+ (costco version of the i7+) has gone on sale for $580 and that one has a slightly bigger battery and more accessories but if you want it now, not a bad deal.

The vacuuming is fantastic. It's the robot that's lame. Having owned both types, I agree 100% that lidar is the way to go.

I have an S4 Max that's still in the return window. It seems to be having the brush not spinning issue on my medium pile carpet which is like 80% of my house so planning to try this one out. From what I read, lidar is the best but for simple floorplans, vslam is kinda catching up.

OP thanks for the post, but I do not recommended buying unless you get it from Costco. Bought 2 from Costco on Black Friday (i8 version). One already dead and returned. Give the other one about another 4 months.

The Costco i8 is back on sale, $100 off. Now $599. We love ours.

I have issues with Roomba running into legs of my furniture causing chipping on the wooden legs of chairs and tables. Otherwise I would use them again on the new home

While Lidar would be better- IMO the roomba navigates good enough and the auto empty feature is more important as it truly makes the ownership experience automated.

Also Roomba supports Alexa commands for individual rooms.

Once Roborock gets the auto empty feature then yeah there will be no reason to get a Roomba.

I do agree the self empty bin is a big deal however, I feel the roomba's patented dual brushes are a bigger draw especially for people with med-high pile carpet. The brushes on the S4 Max I own do not spin on on my carpet half the time leading to sub par cleaning.

I had the i3 with the tower and holy hell was the auto empty feature loud. The vacuum did ok but wasn't impressive. It helped but wasn't clean. And I'm not being picky there was obvious debris still on the floor and many sites recommended running it twice for that issue. The problem is it took almost 4 hours with charging to complete a pass. Two passes just wasn't realistic

I think the point is you can turn on it before going to work and it will clean->charge->clean before you get back home, but with so many people WFH this seems useless for now

I have a S4 Max in-bound from Amazon. My house is all hardwood floor / ceramic tile - no carpet. Minus auto-empty, would I be any better off with the Costco i8 / or this i6 vs the Roborock? I do have cats indoor so I am a bit worried about the dust bin getting full before completing a full vacuum of 1500 sq feet.

Bought this to replace a 600 series almost a month ago. Posted a deal in fact at $100 off. This deal makes it $250 off! Called Amazon to get the difference since it is still inside the return window. No go. They told me to return the one I bought almost a month ago since it was in the return window and order it again at the lower price. WTF?? OK. Arriving today!

This one has done us well, cleaning WAY better than the 600. Absolutely love this machine. I did get the 3year plan just in case. My 600 lasted us nearly 5 years before crapping totally out due to bumping into the dog bowl and shorting out.
