I think I have 6 or 7 of the extra large / desktop size mouse pads because I basically cover my entire desktop and swap them out every now and them.
Here are a few:

The desks my company bought us during the last refresh are made of cold material with hard surfaces and somewhat sharp edges. After hours of resting my arms on the desk to type, it would leave me cold, and with lasting pain in my arms and wrists due to the pressure.
So I started looking for solutions. I can't do the keyboard trays. Not for me. So I looked for something to cushion the desk itself and especially its edge.
I chose this mat because it cushioned the entire area in front of the keyboard and mouse. Basically anywhere I want to put my arms on the desk is cushioned by the mat. I have it hanging over the edge slightly to reduce the pressure caused by the pointy desk edge, and it works. No more cold, sore arms and wrists.
I: Last purchased Nov 24, 2017.

I do agree that this graphic is horrid.

I like everything about this product but one thing. It does not smell good. The smell makes my nose feel uncomfortable.

Hi smell kills the product, Thanks for the feedback, the smell should have gone away after a short period of time. If it's still there, please reach out to our support team: support.corsair.com -Brian
I used to use a gun mat that does the same. And there are many gun graphics choices to choose from.
I used to use an AR-15 parts graphics from Tekmat without stitched edge, which basically a supersized 3ft long cloth-surface mouse pad.

Even when writing by hand its usually on a pad.
What's better, your phone hitting a pad or a hard desk?
Honestly it's really good quality, still looks brand new-- zero frays and virtually no wear, even on the top surfaces.
I've wanted to replace it so many times for an updated look but honestly due to the durability and quality of this thing, I always second guess myself whether anything else would withstand time like this thing..

I like the large mouse pads so much, I even considered buying a custom one to fit the entire desktop, but I'd probably ruin a small spot on it, and my OCD would simply kill me from then on.
