If you are a "new" customer, you need to select a min. $60 monthly plan, but downgrade to $30 or other monthly plan once you receive the phone. Since this is a prepaid plan phone there is no commitment to any long term plan. You can cancel your monthly plan anytime. But 6 month service requirement is needed to unlock the phone.

LOCKED to Cricket- requires 6 months service to unlock. Stacks with $25 referral credit for NEW account. Existing cricket customers also can get $50 credit read wiki. Do NOT "copy and paste" your ported out account number and PIN. You need to enter it manually. Note that even if the "copy and paste is correctly depicted on the ordering screen, and the order initially goes through, the port out verification will subsequently fail and the order will be canceled before the phone is shipped. .

Search eBay for "cricket referral" - the FREE referral link is in the eBay item description here's no need to pay $0.99. REMEMBER sharing, advertising, or PMing referrals is a VIOLATION of SD rules & can result in a BAN. You can also check Reddit.

EXISTING Cricket Customers

STEP 1
Create a new account to purchase the phone. You can self refer and both your existing and new accounts will each get $25

If you have a non-AT&T number, you can port into Cricket. If you have an AT&T number, you can purchase a non-AT&T number from eBay

STEP 2
Before purchasing this device with the new email address, generate the $25 referral coupon from your existing cricket amount. (If you've reached your referral limit, can also search eBay for "cricket $25 referral code"- the FREE referral link is in the eBay item description here's no need to pay $0.99) REMEMBER sharing, advertising, or PMing referrals is a VIOLATION of SD rules & can result in a BAN

Your referral code expires 30 days from generation- purchase and activate during this time period

STEP 3
IMMEDIATELY after activating your new phone, enter your unique referral code emailed to you in the "Everything's Better with Friends" section of the myCricket app or Cricket online website. After inputting referral code, you will see a 60 day countdown tracker in the "Everything's Better with Friends" on when your $25 credit is credited.

Downgrade immediately your plan to the $30 plan. You will get the full $30 prorated credit if you downgrade within the first day of activation.

STEP 4
After 2 months on cricket plan, both your new and old accounts are credited each with the $25 referral. The $25 referral credit will apply on the 59th day and you will get a text notifying you of the credit. After the credit posts, 1 day before your third month is charged on your new account, call Cricket customer service to merge your new account with your old account ensuring your $25 credit from the new account is transferred/ merged with your old account and then cancel that additional line that was merged

NEW Cricket Customers

STEP 1
If you have a non-AT&T number, you can port into Cricket. If you have an AT&T number, you can purchase a non-AT&T number from eBay

STEP 2
Before purchasing your free phone, secure a $25 referral coupon from the cricket referral program (Search eBay for "$25 cricket iphone referral code"- the FREE referral link is in the eBay item description here's no need to pay $0.99) REMEMBER sharing, advertising, or PMing referrals is a VIOLATION of SD rules & can result in a BAN.

Once a referral code is generated, it expires within 30 days.

If you get the error "Well that didn't work as expected!" when trying to claim a code, you need to find a new link as this person has already reached their refer limit.

Change your plan to the $30 plan. You will get the full $30 prorated credit if you downgrade within the first day of activation. You should now have 2 full months of service with the $60 you prepaid and just have to pay $5 more for an extra third month of service. The $25 referral credit will apply on the 59th day and you will get a text notifying you of the credit. After 6 months on Cricket, you can request your free cricket phone to be unlocked

Visual guide for the process to activate new Cricket phone accounts for anyone who is confused about the process:

RSIM15 Instructions
This is what worked for me:

I activated Cricket service, set up the phone under my Apple ID, and also updated to the latest iOS. All that with Cricket SIM in tray, as per usual. [Did try to power on the phone for the first time with my preferred carrier's SIM (T-mobile) just to test if the phone comes unlocked but no luck there. It's locked.

To work with your carrier of choice, try RSIM plus carrier's SIM in tray. If you get the pop-up menu, code the ICCID as per instructions. I did not get the menu and was unable to change the ICCID that way.

The workaround was to remove the carrier's SIM and inserted Cricket SIM but with RSIM still in the tray. Then go to "Settings" - "Cellular" - "SIM Applications" - "Edit ICCID" and enter the most recent ICCID number (you can find one here: https://geveystore.com/).

After coding is done, remove Cricket's SIM, insert your carrier's SIM (again, with RSIM still in the tray), and you should be able to register on the carrier's network. I think I needed an extra reboot or two and had to enter Apple ID / Password to proceed.

After the phone connects on your desired carrier, be sure to navigate to Settings - Cellular - Cellular Data Network to ensure the APN settings for your carrier are entered correctly. For T-Mobile, use info found here: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/...ple-iphone

I'm looking into this as well as we are on the old 5 lines for $100 on Cricket. I think we need to get a new number elsewhere, like maybe Ting for $10, port that number in for the porting number discount, then go through the steps above? I have an old unlocked cell phone around that I'd put into the "new" pre-paid account for the month before cancelling.
Yes. I recall reading that making any changes to 5 for $100 would mess up with your plan charges. So, better to open a new account and swap the phones and let the new account die. Don't risk your existing promo.

If you are already in Cricket over 6-months then new customer / port-in price may apply.
Have you had success with this? I haven't got a promo price on a phone with cricket in almost 3 years. I assume you have to call customer service (as opposed to in-store)?

Another perk is total wireless IMO has been a much better MVNO and offers better speeds with reliable Verizon service. Not sure what service provider some of the Tracfone's run on. Even though they are the same company I would imagine they have contracts with a couple carriers.
Total wireless is Tracfone

Looks like this phone isn't eligible for such promo for existing customers. Some Cricket promos have this explicitly called out.

Tempting but these recent iPhones don't have Touch ID which is a killer imo, especially nowadays with masks everywhere.

I tried to go through the hoops to get one of these deals. After finally getting the form submitted, hours later was sent an order cancelled email. No reason given, customer service was confused why also and had no additional information, just to "try again". Once I googled the issue, I'm not alone. I took my money elsewhere, this level of incompetence early on in any phone company is indicative of issues down the road I'd rather not experience.

I have done this a few times and still have a few of the $60 plan SIMS just laying around. Is there a market for these SIM cards, perhaps on ebay that we could sell them?? Anyone have any experience with that? I have no use for them as I have the grandfathered 5 lines for $100/month plan as well.

You can try OfferUp or similar to try selling it locally. You may need to sell it at a discount and may not be able to recover the full cost. Also, check if they have any expiration.

None of the referrral links from ebay are working. I tried a few from r/CricketWireless also.

Does anyone else is having the same issue? Is there any solution?

UPDATE: After several failed attempts on my computer, it worked like breeze on my phone.
