This is a good ssd but there is the faster 4.0 out going 7000mb/sec. Typically the same third party reseller for this with the same 'sale' pricing. if only there were some competition... With like 2 companies making the majority of chips you will see none, just rebadged chips

Have this drive, can't tell how much faster it is than any decent NVME 3.0 lol. Good drive none the less. Runs pretty cool too with my mobo's integrated heatsink.

My suggestion is either go with a decent NVME 3.0 or go with the new Rocket 4 Plus with Phison E18 controller which significantly beats any NVME 3.0 drives.
I have 2 1TB drives. I haven't put them in RAID yet but even without the RAID they are extremely fast! Just be sure your mobo is compatible otherwise they will drop to PCIe 3 speeds. Zero regrets!

I got this for my gaming rig but I did it more because I wanted the best of everything after I got a rtx 3080.

This drive gets hot, real hot. I ended up replacing the heat sink this came with to a different aftermarket one with active fan. The heat sink kept the drive around 56-63C. New heat sink I got keeps it around 40C.

Anyone know if the heatsink can be removed if it does not fit?
They come packaged separately, so you only use it if you want.

Luckily I had just received mine a few days ago, so bought again and will return the 1st.

About the mx500... I also bought a SAMSUNG 870 EVO 1TB for 129$ to use as my "standard" drive for whatever. Amazon shows the mx500 1tb for 114$. If it was 85-90, I might return the 870 but it's nearly the same price. Hmm. Maybe I'll hunt around and see if i can find the mx500 for cheaper...

Speeds should be the same for both right? Longevity?
yes they are pretty comparable. I've heard the Samsungs can last longer than the Crucial. This isn't only base off the reported TBW but also by looking at the health of your drive through software such as Crystal Disk info.

I have this drive and notice it's very hot to the touch... mind sharing what heat sink you are using?

Yeah, I hope so too although I somewhat get where they're coming from as not all 4.0 drives meet their requirements. My bigger concern is that they limit it to just one particular brand or model.

Thanks, yeah, saw that this morning (was really hoping they'd say something at yesterday's State of Play). Unfortunately it looks like we're at least a few months away and that line about enabling extra cooling has me worried (I don't want my PS5 to sound like my Pro). Anyways, I appreciate the heads up!

The floor fell out of the SSD market last year and a lot of makers ran emergency price drops to stay competitive. All of the factors that caused that drop are either fixed now or are on track to be meaning SSD prices will stabilize or even rise.
Thanks for the info, that makes me glad I picked these up.

Almost all the new chips require 5nm and there is limited wafer mfg capacity until sometime in 2023. Interesting how the 2nd or 3rd largest mfg location is in Wuhan.

I have zero legitimate use case other than benchmarking and bragging rights. Complete waste of money.
Fast, benchmark, 3sec boot, fast...
You said fast twice... Well, I like fast.

I'm looking to get 2tb NVME for my Lenovo S540 AMD model 81NH0058US. It came with a 256GB SSD, PCIe-NVME M.2 which is much to small for my needs. I want something reliable but I'm not a gamer and not using it for much else than for music collection Flac and Mp3 files. I think I would be fine with a M.2 vs M.3+ drive for my needs. If anyone has recommendations for a 2tb version M.2 that would still be a upgrade from what I have in speed and size it'd be greatly appreciated ?

Sabrent drives are great.. only disappointment is this is the same price as last few sales going back to last October..so no price cut yet.
