Quote from WheelaDealer :
Ignore what I'm saying then and do a taste test yourself using the supermarket grinder and 3-5 week-old pre-ground. It's just product advice. Enjoy your coffee your way.
That's not a great way to test. If using a supermarket grinder they are probably grinding whole beans that were bought by the pound from bins. Have to stepulate to grind some fresh sealed whole beans.

There's not much to know for the very basics. Use good, fresh whole bean coffee, grind it fresh. There's some more to know, but if one doesn't do those two things there's no point in knowing anything else.

I'm agreeing with you and expanding.

Coffee snobbery is ridiculous, and only seems to exist in the US. 99% of people in Europe, you know the land where they laugh at watered down US drip coffee, drinks pre ground coffee with at cheap maker like a moka pot and they buy Lavazza bricks etc. But here, go to any coffee site and they all tell you to buy a $250 burr grinder as the bare minimum to even enjoy coffee and thats before you get into the snobbery of the actual method or machine.

The simple fact is just like wine most of the coffee experts can't tell most coffee apart in a blind taste test which is all you need to know. And once you add milk/sugar, which a lot of people do and doesn't make them any less unlike what snobs say, most differences disappear.

Its literally at the point where coffee idiots think beans from the shit of some animal taste better.

Obviously fresh ground beans of consistent grind (ie burr grinder) with the right water temp, amount and extraction time is going to be ideal. But the difference is a few percent points, not that huge and not night and day. And if you are the sort of person who weighs their coffee and checks water temp every morning and uses a timer, well good luck, but try being honest and do a DBT.

and read this - https://www.seriouseats.com/2015/...offee.html

Back to the deal, is this better or worse value than Trader Joes house brand coffee (ground) ?
