Not a good mug. The design of the mouth enables spills from both sides. I hate it. However, it's great for keeping liquid warm/cold for a long time. I now use it at my desk without the lid and only use the lid when I need to insulate the liquid.

I'm drinking out of one right now. Never had a problem with it leaking when trying to take a drink. Only problem I have had is forgetting to close it and pouring out my coffee. Maybe there is something wrong with your lid. They have lifetime guarantee. Just fill out the online form with a photo of the lid and one of the whole mug.

Maybe because my mouth is too small so liquid is able to flow out on the sides. In any case, it's not defective, it just doesn't work for me.
