Requires a neutral wire
Neutral wire provides power to the switch when it's off so it can still be controlled via your phone, Alexa, etc. Some switches work without it, but this one doesn't.
Also just a note, the neutral and ground are not the same thing.

Thanks OP! Picked up one since I am a Eufy fan and want to try this. I had to open up the light switch cover to make sure there's a white neutral and there is (whew).

WiFi switches becoming super affordable. However, if internet is down you use it manually like any traditional switches. Be nice if there were more deals for Z Wave switches and hub.

Although, don't automatically assume that white is common.

ie If you have an x-Way setup (more than one switch controls a light), or a situation where power is at the fixture... I've seen it used as a traveler and not marked appropriately (black mark/tape/etc.) many times.

If you only see one set of wires coming in behind the switch and one black wire is connected to one side and one white wire to the other, then the white is being used as a hot.

I'm not an electrician nor do I play one on tv.

What are you talking about?? No home lacks ground wiring - that's not how electricity works. If you're asking questions like these, best leave electrical work to professionals before you electrocute yourself or start a fire...
Yup. Folks trying to be nice, giving advice (with disclaimers) gonna get somebody zapped. Never fails when the 'neutral/ground' comments start popping up.

Seriously people - if you aren't SURE what you're doing, please, PLEASE do not take advice from strangers on the internet - no matter how well-intended it may be. Live to Slickdeal another day.

Neutral wires are white and usually capped off/tucked away in the box when not used. They supply a steady 120V. Unless your home is older (pre 1980s), it most likely has neutral wires. If your home was built after 2011, it's guaranteed to have them.
Oh God.... people - PLEASE do not take safety advice from strangers on the internet.

I'm not going to defend my comment against the downvotes EXCEPT to say, hopefully to save a life - please google or duckduckgo information regarding neutral wires. circuits and voltage. You will find the above to be DRASTICALLY wrong. Again - recommend you do NOT take the advice of internet electricians. Your choice...

Older. I think the general rule is if your house was built or rewired in the 80s, you should have wiring with neutrals. My house (built in 40s) has a combination.

Just older homes lack ground to recepticles. My parents older house only had two prong plug recepticles and lacked the ground terminal.

A lot of reviews mentioning the switches die fast. 😬 I'm very happy with my Go su nd brand (had to break it up because that word was blocked?) smart wall switches, will probably buy more of those.

Tasmota compatible?
Looks like they probably aren't. I found the FCC listing for the Anker T1211: https://fccid.io/2AB7K-T1211 (the Amazon listing has this switch as the "AK-T1211121", so I suspect it's the same).

Looking at the internal photos, Photo 6 shows a blurry but recognizable Realtek crab logo on the main IC. So no Tasmota. Here's a crop:

Gonna cancel my orders and go with something else that I know has support for Tasmota (which, in a 4-pack, comes out to basically the same price as these anyway).

WTF are you talking about?
"knob and tube" is a 2 wiring system. A neutral, and a hot. No ground. go figure!
That's why they have outlets without the 3rd hole.. called a 2 prong outlet.
open your panel and look where the white and ground wires go
that's what i laugh about

My house was built in the (18)40s and it too is a conglomeration of construction techniques.

Thanks - they have a 2 pack for $13.99 [amazon.com]. Great price. Bought one.

Quote from sriramtks :
I have this one (same price). No promo or coupon code required:

Refoss Smart Wi-Fi Light Switch... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085G6J...b_ap_share

In fact, Refoss is a brand of Meross and it uses Mediatek IoT chipset (same as what Echo Dot gen3 uses).
The reviews are great with a 4.7 rating.
I already use this for a year now and it is great. You've scenes, schedules, and is also Alexa/Google Home compatible.

NB: Neutral wire required!

Can anyone recommend a smart switch that doesn't use neutral wire. I brought one a long time ago and I can't find it anywhere.

I've tried to keep my devices to zigbee and zwave rather than fight the inevitable issues with obsolescence and security/certificate issues with wifi. I remember transitioning from 802.11b to n a few years ago and finding out I had to leave my old router kind of dangling on the new one until i was done using and replacing the b-only devices.
