I dont think the physical buttons really work on mine. I can't switch the source to wifi mode so I don't think I can update it or connect to smarthings. My power supply could be bad because it does weird power cycle stuff but I think you bought the one I posted lol
I did buy the one you posted. After the drama with the subwoofer, I'm pretty happy with the unit, and got it for $100 after an Amex discount for Best Buy purchases. If you have the time and the patience, I'd buy a geek squad warranty and try to get Samsung to fix it. If Samsung refuses, Best Buy will have to get it fixed or replace it with an item of like quality or give you a gift card for the retail value of the item NOT taking into account the sale price. Once I pointed out the last bit to them, they found my subwoofer right quick, lol

Edit: Also, I covered up some scuffs and scratches in the bar and sub with a furniture marker, and wiped the sub with Howards's Restore a finish and feed wax and the set looks 1000x better now.

So this should be covered under manufacturer warranty. And if you are really committed you can buy the Best Buy extended warranty and have them deal with it. I finally got all my cables and remotes in and it works great. Since it's clear it was a floor model and I'm not returning it, I bought the Best Buy warranty for $35
I tried to look into the geek squad warranty but I couldn't figure out if Best Buy would redirect me to Samsung or ultimately just refund me what I paid if they couldn't figure it out since they don't sell that model anymore. I want it to work haha since I got a steal on the rear speakers from Amazon and and reviews of the working unit are solid but at the end of the day I can get an Amazon warehouse Samsung model with similar specs for 400 so at some point it doesn't make sense anymore.

If you wait until the return window closed and had the geek squad warranty, BB wouldn't have the option of just giving you your money back. If there's a manu warranty, Best Buy says it may act as the go-between with Samsung at their option but they aren't obligated to (I would push super hard for BB to be the go-between so you don't have to deal with communication and shipping). That's based on my reading of their Best Buy geek squad terms.

Absolute crap this best buy deal is (nothing against OP).. picked up item, wrapped in plastic and it has no power cables.. what nonsense is this.. do they expect me to now go hunting for these power cables? It's not like a standard usb cables that you can find around in your house but specific power cables.

Did anyone pickup the SL8YG? Thats the cheapest price I've seen for a Dolby Atmos soundbar. Wondering if there's something wrong with that model?

I can't speak directly to the SL8YG, but there are lots of complaints about LG sound bars interfering with 5ghz wifi. It seems that the wireless sub communicates with the soundbar in that range. I experienced it with the SL10YG. LG provides zero information about its proprietary communication method.

I picked up a "good" category soundbar thinking it'd be better than the "acceptable" option but it came with absolutely noticing other than the soundbar and sub. No cable, power supply, wallount, remote, nothing
Wouldn't recommend unless you can live without those items.

See my response above.

The Vizio 5.1.2 setup has a higher Rtings rating than the SL10YG and it's $299 brand new.

That's like comparing a new Kia vs a BMW M. Listen to them and it won't even be a comparison. The LG 10 is ridiculous for sound in a room. That Vizio is base in comparison. I know cause I have the Vizio. It's great for the price but the LG is top of the line form a year ago.

LG - AI ThinQ 3.1.2-Channel 440W Soundbar System with Wireless Subwoofer and Dolby Atmos - Black SL8YG

Got one of these in satisfactory condition, came with nothing except the unit itself and sub... I tested it at the store using a sn8yg cable and it worked, no damage to the unit, took it home, ordered power cable, remote, and mounting bracket from Amazon and it is flawless

Please help! Can't decide between 2 Samsung Q70R's. One is in fair condition, but looks like it has a couple of small spots of white paint on the back & also has the wall attachment on it. The other is a satisfactory display piece that looks fine. I just question the display piece as they've probably been on for many, many hours(but not played not much) The fair piece was probably a customer return.

I'm debating on getting a 3.1 soundbar if it's even available in my area, but I don't know if I should replace my Yamaha 2.1 with built in subwoofer, anyone have experience with the HW-R650/ZA and if it's good?

Well, got a generic soundbar remote from Amazon today and I still can't set the soundbar up. The only two buttons that do anything on the remote are the power button and the "Sound Mode" button. The manual and random internet things do seem to suggest that holding the settings button for 5 seconds while off should do something like a reset, but it doesn't work for me. It actually turns the soundbar back on. If I hold that same button while it is on, it usally says BYE to me. Can't find any other type of way to reset the thing, so i think i'm done with it...
Got Samsung w/built in subwoofer. The source is defaulted to D.IN (direct input). I researched online, one of them suggested holding the volume down button (-) WHEN POWERED OFF, turn on while still holding the button and change the source from the remote. Mine didn't come w/remote, so bought generic remote for $7 from amazon, tried no luck as it turns off and on with the remote. Seems like it's in the store mode, meaning nothing can be changed on soundbar without hard reset. I am going to try again this weekend to try connecting it. Worst scenario, would buy geek squad and let BB/Samsung fix it. Now my qs like others is how certain is the fact that if it can't be fixed, they would reimburse the actual price and not the price I paid for the unit if they can't fix it? I don't want to get stuck and have to return w/same price I got it for on top of spending xtra on geek squad. TIA

I got a Samsung HW-MS650 (3.1 with built-in Subwoofer) today from Best Buy for $95. Cosmetically, it is a little dented (got a few of them) with no remote, but after downloading an app or 2 (Samsung Smart Things and Multiroom), I got it connected over wi-fi to the internet. Seems to work fine. Ordered a remote off ebay for $8. Bottom line: significantly improved the sound of my TV for about $100.

Does anyone know when they typically do the discounting? I couldn't find much this year but have in the past.
