These are Home Depot's version of the dual pawl, teardrop design, 144 position ratchet. Been waiting for this to drop since Christmas. Pretty sure they are not restocking this item. Dropped $20 today.

This is made by Apex Tool Group, same as Gearwrench, SATA, etc.

Made in Taiwan, same as the popular 120xp dual pawls.

Not sure how the quality compares, but I like the quick release button and obviously the Lifetime Warranty with no questions, no receipt required, available in store through Home Depot.

A rubberized handle is nice, but this is a 144 position ratchet vs 72 tooth Pittsburgh you're talking about. If you're wanting a 2.5 deg arc in a tight space, I wouldn't want a bulky rubber handle on it.

Mine is Ohio. All other zips I've checked show the same price. Check again? What's your zip?

I have no issues with husky brand but I think having a rubberized handle is super helpful if you are in cold weather. I personally use the harbor freight Pittsburgh pro brand. They have lifetime warranty too and there is a coupon for ratchets now.

Edit - mine is running strong for 4 years and no issues. I am a DIY person and work on both my cars and my motorcycle.

I'll bite... have too many ratchets already but 144 sounds interesting. Might have helped when changing out the alternator on the daughter's car. Alternator bolts were not the issue, it was the tensioning bolt.

Had it available with free shipping to home. An hour later in store pickup only.

My fault for waiting but annoying AF nonetheless. I don't get why HD does that.

Would the gearwrench 120 set be more beneficial to have? They were on sale again yesterday for $66.99 on amazon so I caved.. now I'm thinking about these as there are 11 in stock at my home depot.

I think the Husky is better for warranty. The fine teeth are probably easier to strip/snap when over applying torque.

Interesting take, in my limited research, I found this in a 4 year old thread and now am torn..

HD can (and recently has) switched ratchet vendors/designs. I recently traded a broken round head Husky I was given in on a replacement. The old one was a 72 tooth with thumb wheel. The new one is clearly a bottom feeder. For better (and worse) it seems to me that the Cman RP stuff has remained about the same over a long period of time.

So far about the only reason I can think to tell my friend to go with GW vs Husky is that you know any GW replacements will be a GW. The replacement for the "GW-Husky" might be a "Stanley-Husky" or "Tekton-Husky" etc.

^^^^^^ this

go with gearwrench. they are not going anywhere soon. with any of the big box brands? who knows. history has shown that they will carry on with a supplier until the contract is up and then all bets are off.

as an example. kobalt used to be top of the line industrial williams if not snap-on quality for a fraction of the price and look what it is now. mediocre import at best.

Sad thing is, you're probably right about getting some cheap cheap replacement in a few years when these actually bite the dust.
For me the ease of stopping by a local store and swapping is a bit better than dealing with the hassle of shipping. Although, the last ratchet I warrantied, the company didn't even have me ship the old one.
