Does anyone have experience with Gigabyte products, specifically laptops? Based on a quick Google search, I don't see many user reviews for their laptops, but a great deal of complaints on their computer parts (MOBOs, GPUs, etc) and RMA process.

Seems most of their products look to be of great value but have terrible reliability. I'm wondering if their laptops have similar issues since I assume they use their own parts to custom build these products.

Not sure about this model but my gigabyte aero 15x 2018 is still doing great. The 94 whr battery and thin bezels during that year is the one that attracted me since it wasn't that common. I think there are also a lot of reviews for the aero 15x back then. But it is indeed a gigabyte laptop

After canceling my order for the Gigabyte A5 X1, I ran across this newly revised laptop from Asus: https://rog.asus.com/us/laptops/r...15-series/

For roughly $200 more, you get a slightly more powerful processor (R9 5900HX), better cooling (2 more heat pipes, liquid metal compound on CPU, top and bottom intakes plus extra exhaust vent) with some overclocking for both the CPU and GPU, better chassis build quality with full RGB keyboard and light bar (if that's your thing Stick Out Tongue), bigger battery, and a 165Hz WQHD screen option (pending availability). No, it's not a "SlickDeal" deal, but it looks to be a much more well rounded mid-range gaming laptop for the money. Reviews of the 17" version have been pretty positive, with the only major flaw being the absence of a webcam. I'll eventually snatch up one of these, whenever the WQHD model becomes available heh Smilie.

Possible NO TAX - if you ship to certain states (like Nevada). Good deal for 3070 Max-P (31% faster than 3070 Max-Q, and faster than 3080 Max-Q). I haven't seen a 3070 Max-P lower than $1551 yet.

Graphics benchmark 3070 Max-P 115W+10W*+15W** > 3080 Max-Q 80W+65W*+20W** ($1999 Aorus 3080) > 3070 Max-Q Max-Q 80W+40W*+20W**
* Configurable TGP, ** Dynamic Boost technology

Free thermal upgrades OPTION:
  1. Select Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on CPU/ IC Diamond on GPU
  2. Select Free 30 Day No Dead Pixel Warranty ($35 value, this promotion overrides standard options) +$.01 [Add $0.01]
  3. Select Fujipoly Ultra Extreme Thermal Pads on necessary area for optimal cooling performance

Total $1,551.03 with a coupon Code "CASH" for 3% discount.
Or, use "EDU" or "MIL" for 2% discount. Then, you can pay with credit card. It's a wash if you have 2% cash back credit card. Same price.

Coupon code "cash" is only supposed to be used for a bank transfer or personal check. Availability is listed as pre-order. This seems like a solid deal but with no firm ETA, I'd rather not hand over $1500 in cash.

I'll never understand 240hz on a laptop. 240hz, to me, would be for top end competitors who truly need this and if you are that person, you're not playing on a laptop. Unless the price difference between 120 and 240 is very small, I'd rather that money go elsewhere on the build. Just my two cents

They already cut cost using 1080p screen. Yes, 3070 Max-P can get you 200+ fps in some weak ass game like COD or counter strike. So, it's pretty much standard to get 240hz on 1080p nowadays.

There's already a SlickDeals thread about this deal. From my experience with GenTech PC, and from other people's bad experiences, I would highly suggest staying away from this seller.

Original thread: https://slickdeals.net/f/14859877

When I ordered this deal, their website forced me to use Paypal Express with my CC, which charged me for the laptop instantly. Then I was told via email it would be "4-6 weeks" as an ETA, which didn't even tell me if that is when I receive, or when their shop does. With such a vague ETA, and the fact that they already had my money I made sure to cancel my order right away. Others had mentioned about other laptop preorders from them never getting fulfilled even though they took payment. This may be a "SlickDeal", but IMO it isn't worth the risk.

A better alternative is to wait a few weeks for Asus to release their new Strix G15 laptop with WQHD screen, R9 5900HX, RTX 3070 "Max-P", 1TB SSD, and 16GB RAM for $1,799 MSRP.

Would have liked to see qhd with a 144hz. A 3070 max p is made for a 1440 screen or higher

I bought a W90 and a GT80 from these guys and had no issues. A friend bought a GT80 from them and had many issues with the laptop and he ended up with a FULL refund (not 15% restock or shenanigans like that). Granted those were not preorders but experience with this shop over the years has been fine.

Actually up to $400 more in some states due to tax. This is indeed a better laptop probably worth the price difference, but just performance-wise I'd go with a 5800H which is not too far from a 5900HX to save this $400.
