18 months ago is not today. Around the same time as you, I picked up a Ryzen 2700x for $130 at microcenter and bought a Red Devil 5700XT for just over $400.

The market is the market and I am thankful I do not need to buy anything today. However if I needed a machine or for others who need a machine, you do the best you can do in these crazy times of supply shortages and high demand.

This is a very respectable price in todays market.
We will agree to disagree ☺️

$699 would be a better deal.

Does anyone remember when the ASUS TUF A15 was on sale end of last summer for $799 with Ryzen 7 4800H and an RTX 2060? It wasn't even a big sale like BF. I still to this day cannot find anything even coming close to that price for what you get. (IMHO!)

Damn, got the same laptop but Ryzen7 4800H with 2060 vid for 800 before xmas from best buy. Give it a bit, this should drop like a rock once the pandemic gets a bit more under control.
YES! I got the same deal. It was sick and I haven't seen anything come close to that!

Save your hyperbole for someone else. I assumed that my post was clear enough, but...

As someone with the $699 9300H, 2060, 16GB, 256GB+1TB 144Hz deal from a couple months ago, the features and capabilities of this deal are overpriced. For the same price as what I paid, you could at least argue that you were getting a tradeoff between CPU and GPU power, but at this price point you are simply getting a poor deal. Shaving $100-200 off the price would make it a very good and realistic deal.

LMAO If you can wait 9 months, then I'm sure there will be better performance/$ a year after that, too!

With Covid and mining, I'm actually pleased that deals on laptops are as good as they are... 'cause I can't wait that long.
Wait 5 years and you won't even be into gaming by then! Problem solved

Ive been using this laptop for several months now. Primarily for video editing. It's been great especially the ryzen processor. The small drive, limited ram and 1660 ti hold it back a little bit but I don't regret my purchase last summer for $1k

edit: disregard. mine is different. its got the 4900h

I have the 4800h version of this laptop. It's solidly built, as the TUF name implies. My teenage son, who seems to break everything, has been using that laptop for months with no issues.

Ignore all those who defend this "deal." I agree with you, this is not so slick. Basically last gen specs for a current gen sale price (the price most of us paid for comparable specs when this was actually current gen).

The real question is, is it slick "for now". We all agree, prices on these entry gaming laptops do not make much sense right now, and should realistically be lower. But they aren't. So the question is, is this a good deal if I need one today. Is this a good deal right now?

Probably supply issues for now. I'd say wait until the end of this year.
Wait for a 1660ti?
