Almost exclusively for tea here, or at least in winter season. One annoying thing is that my model has no timer other than a max 10 hr sleep timer but I want it on in morning until I don't. There is no 'on timer or clock. I use an Alexa capable plug to fire it off in morning and call out a stop command, depending on the day.
Since work from home I just broke into box that contains the 1000th tea bag. We use for noodles and coffee pour over occasionally, but mostly tea.

It's overkill for those that don't use much hot water, for example if you just brew tea or coffee once a day.
I guess people will value how they spend their money differently. I guess 130 for this is still better than 300-500 for a video card. To each their own.
And isn't that scenario really more about getting a ski in ski out place (which usually costs more than a place near the mountain base) than having a $130 Zoji water heater? Most of those people waiting in line are probably not staying at a nearby place or else they wouldn't be waiting in line.
Finally, you are comparing spending $130 to have instant ramen full of msg and very little nutritional value vs spending $10 for a burger with meat?? Plus the hassle of packing this thing with you on vacation especially if you are flying.

I used to have an insinkerator but they are so cheaply built that they last a couple years and then blow up. Very convenient
