Awesome, I've been waiting for this deal to happen again at Costco.

Some electric utilities have rebates for energy efficient air cleaners. For example, Silicon Valley Power (Santa Clara, CA) has a $75 rebate on up to 3 units, and this Winix C545 model is on the Energy Star list [energystar.gov] with >150cfm so it qualifies for the full $75 rebate each: https://www.siliconvalleypower.co...t?id=41992

That's a net cost of just $25 per air purifier!
I have had this since the last sale

Filters are hard to get cheap, not a lot of 3rd party, though compatible with different version I think S, if this is S then maybe C , cant keep them straight
I hate that it has no remote, and you cant add a remote, only option is to use app
No auto off after specific time
Given COVID , I wish I had one with a UV light
Note that 3rd party filters were hard to find last year (Type S), but now there are many offerings:

I owned two, motor died on one right at a year. Other is still kicking but the motor issues seams more than a slight problem when I looked it up. The plasma wave thing is a joke. If you look in the vent from the top there are two tiny black things... Yeah that's the plasma wave.

The wifi thing works but seams silly. The auto iq thing seams fine.

If I spray Lysol in the room the things turns red and speeds up for a few min.

The plasma wave was lab tested to remove E. coli. And other viruses

535 is better IMHO. Filters are standard size and much cheaper.

I had this but returned it. Costco doesn't sell it's filters and the filtration power is not good.

Also, to kill Covid, you need a purifier that has UVC.
Both my complaints, as someone posted the air passes through purifier too fast to be killed by UV

Costco does sell filters online but they have not gone on sale(meaning discounted) for a bit and you can now find 3rd party cheap on Amazon for about $24

Really been wanting one since we had all these fires last year in SoCal? Anyone have any idea if SCE provides any rebates?

Anyone know how to program it auto on and turn off plasmawave? I don't use the plasmawave, but it is auto on by default. I want it to automatically disable.

Beware that it is really hard to get the filters.
Better looking for Winix 5300-2 from Amazon.

I don't see anything on their rebates page - http://www.sce.com/residential/re...gs/rebates

I don't think you'll notice much difference, better off with a 20" box fan and furnace filter and also make sure your actual furnace filter is replaced regularly.

Also this thing doesn't turn itself back on after a power outage... Minor but irritating.

Can you see it in the app that it's off and turn it on manually in the app?

Ugh, I just bought 3x of the C535 a couple weeks ago for $120 each. Always a better deal after I jump. Besides the app remote, what's the difference between the two?

My utility company offers rebates on these, FYI

That's what i'm going to do. Again. When i find a quiet 20" box fan. One that doesn't rattle much. For now i have an older larger winnix with remote someone gave me for free with new filters. It's bulky heavy doesnt have a handle. It's only effective on the higher fan speed, just like a box fan+furnace filter. i only run it as needed. I think box fan + good filter + smart plug timer will be just as good or better because fan filter is 20"

We recently added a better MERV filter to our furnace/AC and the crazy amount of dust that we had reduced a lot. This room filter helps mostly with floating dust and may only help a little. Also maybe try to find out what is causing your dust? My old house had carpet that shredded like crazy. Also for dust that has already settled, a roomba may work well too. Also a lot of dust may be coming from outside when the wind blows. We have santa ana winds here so the wind blows a lot of dust into the house. There are also some window nets made for allergies that reduce the amount of dust entering the house.
