Have you watched them make the drink? Most likely your drink is mostly water. There is a set limit amount of coffee they are supposed to put for each size and then top up with water.
They would never add water to random drinks to fill them up.

I always order a Venti iced drink without ice and then ask for a cup of ice. You can drink half and take the other half home and refrigerate for the next day. So about 4 iced Grande for the price of one Venti.
I've always done pretty much the same (former Starbucks "partner" here)...but I don't save it, I just drink a lot lol.
I do it at Dunkin' Donuts, too.
But you must realize that *unless* adding a bunch of extra shots, you're basically just getting espresso flavored milk.

When something is *free*, you'll be surprised (or maybe not) at all the crap people will have thrown in a cup & then proceed to consume... well, or *attempt* to consume anyway...

I worked at a Starbucks years ago (& I did for about 5 years) & I had customers that would literally try to make the most expensive sh!t possible...they'd usually stop at around $20, & then (of course) ended up just getting tossed in the trash bc of how strong/gross whatever they got, ended up being.
Typically it was as many shots as we could fit into a cup for these fools (w/whatever syrups they could see & pronounce...or just a Frappuccino with tons shots & whatever tf else). 🤦🏻 ♀️🙄
Repped for Starbucks story time. I guess it's a real-world extension of "what did I just buy" or "buy now, think later" posts we see here on SD all the time. I've been guilty myself once (or twice.)

Thanks! & that wasn't even one of my GOOD (insane/fun) Starbucks stories! 😂

Thankfully I wasn't the one that was tasked with cleaning the restrooms often...I'd prefer not to see my disgusting coffee creations THAT way🤢 (you're welcome).

Cold brew ok?

got it...

"handcrafted"
espresso-based drinks, Frappuccino® Blended Beverages, seasonal drinks, iced teas, cold coffees and Nitro.

not "handcrafted"

hot brewed coffee, hot tea, ready-to-drink beverages (bottled water, bottled juice, etc.), Starbucks Reserve® drinks and alcohol.

Passed 3 locations this morning and all had lines of 10+ vehicles and a decent crowd inside all for a coupon to save less than $10 on a low quality coffee. It's quite humorous how well any "free" item marketing works. Many who wouldn't have bought a coffee today now will, and many will forget to use the free coupon during the time period. Bravo Starbucks.

You have to add extra shots otherwise it gets diluted with the milk or whatever you have in there! I usually will save the BOGO this way too! Never thought to ask for the separate cup of ice!. I just use my own.
