Go here, put in your zip code, select Rapid Diagnostic Test (ID Now). Some areas just started today, others will start this coming week.

yeah that is the same website I used. Nothing in California. I only see Reno, Las Vegas and Phoenix as the options for me. I'm using zip code 92360

Maybe check next week. Or check on airport testing. Those express massage places at the airports have been converted to rapid testing places as well. And Costco does testing.

I took advantage of the low fares a few weeks ago when round trip was close to $150. Now I really regret it. You have to get a negative test result within the 72 hours before departure from a trusted partner. The cheapest way to get tested is through Walgreens. It is free and approved by the state of Hawaii. What makes me uneasy is that test results can take 3-5 days. If you want to be safe, there are faster options but insurance does not pay for those tests. The approved rapid tests are about $300 each (150 for test and 150 for office visit). My flight is on a Monday morning which means I need to get tested on Friday at the earliest. I'm afraid some labs will probably not process on Sundays. It may look like a good deal for the flights but to me this is a pain in the ass.
I did carbon health last month, going to Honolulu. Test at 6pm and had results 12 hours later. Was $170 PP though

Yep, I was supposed to go Hawaii and Walgreens advertised that results came back in 24 hours. Of course my results didn't come in until the day AFTER flight departed. I needed to cancel my trip and rebook (I'm totally over Hawaii but the girlfriend is dead set on going.)

Can you please point me to the Southwest test for $20? Is it approved for Hawaii?

Yep, I'm glad I rescheduled. But if I had to do it all over again....we would have chosen a different destination besides Hawaii. Travel has become too political there.
Trying to keep people safe == Too political?

Should've taken a trip to Brazil then, if you want zero regulation. Maybe you can try Texas next.

Any trip that requires a covid test or quarantine is a no-go for us....
Why is that? You don't want to know that your fellow flight companies are virus free? Doesn't make sense.

Because it is too much of a risk that you may lose your money that you have into lodging, excursions or car (flights are typically you can cancel up to moment of flight) if you test positive.

I am not booking any accommodations until I have a negative test result in hand. If you book a car through Costco you don't pay until you are there. Time to travel spontaneously and creatively.

Just got back from Hawaii. Use ADL Health for your test. They ship you the test and yourself administer it via a zoom meeting. They are great about communicating and will get you the results back in time. If you're flying United, there is a link that makes the test cheaper. I 100% recommend ADL just for the piece of mind.

Thanks for the suggestion! How was your experience in Hawaii? Curious what is like during the pandemic. This is my 2nd time going to Maui and want to check out the sunrise at Haleakala. We couldn't see through the thick fog the first time we tried it. Hopefully this time I will be able to see it.

Anybody who has gone to Maui during COVID have any experience? Any issues with your flight? Was it crowded? Where did you go, and what is there to do in Maui? Were most things closed?

I've been extremely taxed and stressed and have been at home since the pandemic and considering a yolo trip.
Be warned. People who live in Maui have been hostile to people visiting during COVID.
