This product has a known flaw where the subwoofer emits a rumbling "wind" noise [reddit.com] noticeable at low volumes. The issue was reported at least 5 months ago and Vizio has done nothing to fix it. All units seem to be affected including recent purchases from Costco; many people likely just don't notice it.

I bought this back then. Keep in mind (at least with my LG OLEDC556 TV) I needed to unhook all the HDMI's in the TV to get it going with the HDMI ARC on this soundbar. Only had one time where sound went out (and completely freaked me out) and couldn't get it back at first. After that, turned it off and left it for a while and next time I turned it back on it was working right again. Sounded great for the price, so if you're thinking about picking one up don't hesitate!

Do you the 2 sound speakers have wired or wireless connections to the soundbar? I'm guessing wired because they need to get powered from something.

They are wired to the sub which is wireless.

I have this from the $150 deal sometime back (staples maybe)?

Anyhow, the sound is great, but I can't work out the audio delay issues. In other words the mouth on the tv starts to move, followed by the sound coming out of the soundbar. The TV and soundbar both have delay options but the delay only ADDs additional delay to the audio (making the problem worse).

I've tried this on 2 different samsung tvs (one high end 2019 "the frame" and one lower end Samsung) and both have this delay issue.

Been through all the troubleshooting and if you reduce the sound output to PCM (aka Stereo 2.0, and not 5.1 dolby digital), the delay goes away. Anytime you use Dolby Digital it sounds fantastic but introduces that noticeable delay. It really plays with my brain.

Logistically the soundbar hooks up to your tv. Then the subwoofer wirelessly connects back to the soundbar. The 2 surround speakers are hardwired to the subwoofer (17foot cables included for each). For my living room, this is the perfect setup. Subwoofer tucked to the left side of the couch, and the wires coming from the subwoofer to the surround speakers are hidden under the couch.

There was a firmware update that addresses wireless dropouts from the back channels (sub and 2 surround) so check that if you get it as well (I get dropouts infrequently but enough for me to post about it here).

As a final statement on the sound lag: it differs depending on the content... some stuff is delayed more than others with the worst of it being higher end (Dolby Atmos as an example) and the easier stuff (stereo 2.0) it is perfectly in sync.

and no, changing output to PCM/stereo isn't a good solution, just a bandaid. As why bother with surround sound if you are only pumping out 2 channels to it.

I had the issue with the previous model (sb3651-e6). Could not resolve it. Got two additional replacements from Vizio but all eventually suffered from the same. Tried different TVs, outputs, etc.

This new version v51-h6 has seemed to fix it. No more issues. Maybe a tiny tiny lag at worse but I truthfully wouldn't notice it.

Bought this a month ago when it was $160, and am very impressed with it. Subwoofer is wireless, and the rear surround are wired into that. I placed the sub near one of the rear satellites and wired the other one under the floor. If you cannot run the wires to the rear speakers, get the version without the surround speakers for $149.99

Interesting. Have you played with PCM vs Dolby Digital out (aka are you satisfied when Dolby Digital is being output by your tv as it relates to sound delay)?

Thanks. I didn't even consider that option which I like a lot. It means you don't have to run wires from the soundbar to the other side of the room.

I bought this a month ago. I was going to return because I keep hearing a faint womp noice from the subwoofer. It's really annoying if You are sitting near subwoofer. I also have never heard anything coming out of the rear speakers. Is the unit working or do I have it set up wrong.

They are wired to the wireless sub. So this 5.1 is a better deal

For the rear surround speakers to have sound ..you need to have dolby on...like i have dtv and i have 2 options. dolby and PCM if i have pcm on (which i never do) then no surround sound and whatever your watching needs to be broadcast in dolby digital...like during NFL games my local FOX doesn't broadcast in dolby (ridiculous!) So no sound from rear speakers Local CBS does and then I get "surround sound"....
on the Sub making a faint whomp noise ( agree it can be annoying when its quieter scenes in whatever your watching)..I have a samsung soundbar that does that on some channels and the only way i got rid of it was turning sub volume down (for tv shows not a big deal)

Yeah I changed to pcm on my tv and it fixed it. But pcm is 2.1 right? No rear channel? So would only be temporary for me. The lag is created because the system has to create a buffer to allow the rear speakers to be in sync with the front speakers, even if that means it's not in sync with the tv. That's the best way I can explain it in my head...

Got this a few days back in store at the 199 price. Does the store price match online or would it be better to return and then order online instead ?
