While these are "cute" and a hit if your child loves transportation theme, I'd suggest looking at better manipulatives for toddlers. Search for "Counting Bears" on Amazon. Better for not just math, color-shape recognition, sorting, etc but also fine motor skills with the tongs and cups and patterning with the included pattern cards. That is worth the few extra $.

They help with color recognition, counting, and sorting. I actually picked one up last week for my soon to be 3 year old. He likes cars etc. So these will be perfect for your 3 year old.
