FP and sold out in 3, 2, 1...

This model uses the latest "cheapest" toner (without a chip),

3rd party Tn660 Amazon costs about 6 if you buy 4 at same time,

This could be SD's most popular printer. I bought 4 (myself, and my family) over the past 5 years

Laser is much better than inkjet, I will never buy an inkjet printer again, so many problems with them compared to laser.

Their lasers have always had a good rep and drums and toner were cheap. I think some new ones have more expensive drums and toner.

Their inkjets had good reps too and used cheap ink. I have an ancient one that worked well for a long time with cheap ink but later, for a good while, printed text that was white in the middle. The letters where a bit hollow. Nothing I did fixed it. A long time later, it fixed itself and it's been fine ever since. Mine doesn't used carts with chips. It seems that I have to replace a cart more often than I think I should have to. There's always some left in the ones I throw away. Brand new ones don't seem to have much ink in them. They're generic carts but everything about them is supposed to be standard to Brother's carts as far as I know.

Thanks for the replies guys!

My problem with the inkjet ones were paper jamming a lot, but the last one was in like the weakest plastic I've ever seen and kept breaking apart so easily till I couldn't glue things back together anymore...

In terms of durability, one of the ones I got is being used in a office with 4 academics now. So it has printed an estimated minimum of 20K pages already. The other durability concern would be dropping it or moving it around. THAT, I can't vouch for.
