Every microfiber towel I have ever used is poor at absorbing water.

If you got no better option sure can keep using microfiber or waffle weave towels, but for real drying and water absorbing you need something made for that duty. There is a reason Chamois Towel, shammy towels, or synthetic towels exist, they are all the same thing just the name slightly different. Get one of those and see the real difference, I would not dry or detail my car with anything less. The towels I mentioned are meant for one main role to dry the product nothing else! If you follow proper care directions one will last you many many years. Go do your homework and thank me later, I would post the one I am using, but the Chinese brand I bought a few of long ago they stopped making. I can post some links for those who are interested in suggestions though from Amazon.

I've actually have great experience with this towel, it actually absorbs water instead of just moving it around.

I have a Worx Hydroshot and thought of buying some distilled water to rinse. 1 - 1 1/2 gallons should do the trick to keep minerals off without buying an inline filter that's only good for 20 rinses. Any thoughts?

Microfiber and waffle weave are safer for the paint. Are the Chamois as friendly and leaves less to no scratches after drying?

Synthetic Chamois are super absorbent last for years with minor care and do an amazing job drying, but yes they can scratch your paint if you did a poor job cleaning your car. You have to remember a chamois is a extremely flat surface and its that flat surface along with the material that creates a lot of passive suction that absorbs water. If you were to lay the Chamois on top of a lot of dirt and started moving it around you will get fine scratches, same with a microfiber though. For me its been extremely rare to ever scratch my car with a synthetic chamois but between the 2 bucket method, foam cannon, and filtered water I almost always get a dirt free surface to dry. I also pat dry my car primarily and dont mop with the chamois which makes a big difference and lowers almost all risk.

The only place to go from this is to a independent car dryer, but I don't want to waste the money on that.

why the 2 bucket method? i know it's popular, but why not stock up on good microfiber and use that once?
makes for a big enough load for the washing machine too.

No matter how good of a foam cannon you have or pressure washer you use, there will always be spots that need some elbow grease, using the 2 bucket method ensures you always have clean water/mitt in one bucket and all your dirt and debris in another. Helps tremendously in eliminating possibility of scratches through contaminated mitt and also helps a bit on conserving soap and water cause you never have to dump the whole bucket out when it gets too dirty. Also less dirty towels to keep track of.

i should clarify. i used to do the 2 bucket method, but the amount of dirty towels/mitts generated was tiny. seemed like a waste to run a wash cycle.

so I bought more microfiber and just use each microfiber once per car wash. just used a 2nd bucket for holding the used towels. then do one washing machine cycle. seems like this reduces dirty scratching even more. and honestly isn't much more cost.

If you use only one towel per panel especially when you get near the bottom, I guess that's fine. But if you dump that towel back into your wash bucket and reuse it again there is a good chance of bringing that dirt back up and scratching the next panel you touch. Even with a grit guard which I actually use in both buckets you still have a good chance of bringing dirt back into the towel.

I have multiple mitts and towels, and yeah I just let them sit and build up till I have a batch to do a wash with. One of the reason I was looking at those new washing machines that have two compartments one for smaller loads, figured it might come in handy, but they are so expensive.

Have you considered a leaf blower? I do that now which removes about 90% of the water in less than 5 mins.

I got a electric leaf blower but no inline filter on it, dont want to risk shooting debris at the car. I have heard people use their leaf blowers though.

This is the normal price whenever I have checked this.

Ignore people saying these aren't good. Deoending on the amount of water, you may want to buy two but these are FAR better than chamois. Chamois get stick, get moldy, tear and can scratch if used improperly.

Buy yourself 2 of these (I have 3 because I use one exclusively for my wheels) and don't look back.
