Spectrum Internet Ultra 400Mbps $29.99/month for 2 years YMMV

Received a card from Spectrum in the mail. It offers $29.99/month for its Internet Ultra (400Mbps) for 2 years with no contracts, including free modem. Valid through 3/17/2021. Call 1-844-793-7442 or go to Spectrum.com. I entered my address online and saw the offer price.

Could be a local offer. I'm in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Just to clarify...

Spectrum 200 Mbps (100 Mbps in some remote areas) standard high speed internet is a NATIONWIDE regular rate of $74.99 and includes modem. Wireless router rental is $5/ month so buy your own and save money. Regular new customer promotion on this standard plan is $49.99/ month for 12 months. 2nd year rate goes up $10 and 3rd year to regular price. Upgrade to 400 Mbps for $20 more per month or 1 Gig for $60 more per month.

Often the 400 Mbps is available in competitive properties or areas at $49.99/ month for 24 months. Same plan can sometimes more rarely be found for $29.99/ month as OP stated YMMV. More areas for these promos will be added very soon as this is a current project happening now.

Current active Spectrum subscribers are not eligible for new customer rates but you may ask for a retention offer instead. Often these retention offers are not as good as initial new customer offers. Some customers cancel and restart an account or use another provider temporarily to be eligible for new customer rate again. Many customers play the game and call their internet provider every 12 months to get a new lower promotional rate.

Spectrum/Charter/formerly TWC has had a fiber optic backbone for 20+ years. Usually plant lines are connected to property coaxial cable lines put in by the builder and NOT Spectrum. Coax cable lines can theoretically support speeds up to 11 Gigs with recent DOCSIS 3.1 upgrades but with higher latency. Spectrum does have fiber to the unit in some locations (definitely a lot in Business Class) but keep in mind even with a fiber to the unit connection, you are often bottlenecking your speed benefits when connecting to a wireless router and using the WiFi. Really these higher speeds are just marketing ploys to get more money from residential addresses that don't have the correct or even necessary internal networking setup. Those higher speeds and fiber to the house connections are best really for business applications. 100 or 200 Mbps is more than sufficient for even many above average residential internet users.

My neighbor in San Antonio, TX who is new to Spectrum found 400mb Internet for $29.99 online. When he spoke and ordered, it was good for 36 months. No contract. Usually before the expiry of the term, if you call, you can get the best promotional deal. This is the best deal I have seen.

Was able to double my speed to the Spectrum Internet Ultra tier (400Mbps) and drop my monthly price back down to $64.99.

That'll do... for now...

Well we will see if this ISP actually fulfills this pricing promo. Spectrum bamboozled me out of my Soc Sec and credit card numbers and signed me up for cell service telling me it would lower my internet bill. Operator was a Sociopath and lied thru her teeth about the discounts she promised. Now it's on me to cancel and ship a phone back in 14 days or i am stuck with it.

It's really annoying that they keep advertising high download speeds but it gets harder and harder to figure out the upload speed. That's really important if you have an online backup or need to copy large files for work.

Installed and activated the Internet Ultra service yesterday, and I have 87Mbps down, 23 up on my ethernet connection. Good enough for me. AT&T was half this.

They offer in an area there is competition from other ISPs. But also you get around 50% or less of the speed as well during peak hours.

I would call support if you're seeing 87 down on a 400 connection something is wrong and you are paying for a service you are not fully receiving

Anything past 30mbps honestly won't even be noticeable for most people outside of constant downloading or multiple 4K streams.

Had a 2-year new customer promo rate expiring last month at $44.99/month for Ultra 400mbps. Was going to cancel it but they sent a letter offering a new rate of $54.99/month to keep Ultra. Competitor, ATT. only offers 50mbps at $50/month what a joke.

I had to google this.

Their 100mb and 200mb plans have 10mb upload
Their 400mb plans have 20mb upload
and the 1 gig plan is 35mb upload

I have the 200mb plan and regularly see about 11mb upload

I'm setting up my first payment, and will use Chase Freedom to get 5% rebate. Is there any reason to not go ahead and pre-pay several months out? I'm happy with the service and can't foresee anything better coming along any time soon.
