I'm not too sure on the M1 series. I have the M2 model, and it is removable, but it's not really designed for taking it out of the clamping mechanism.

They have a separate version that can be used freely for $20 here ... https://masscaproducts.com/produc...y-projects .... however, I never used that one. I use a cheap version for that.

What is your application? Large planks? Repairing?

I've never used pocket hole joinery in items too large to fit in the clamp. If its bigger than what I can fit, I usually do some type of mortise. I rarely use pocket hole jigs for what they are meant for. I'm not a fan of screws. Usually I use them to make a dowel joint connection with a 3/8" dowel. Having an oak with something like a sapele dowel joining it looks really good once finished. Plus it's a lot stronger than a pocket hole screw (especially the Kreg screws... their Robertson head screws are the only "stainless steel" sq heads I ever managed to cam out and give a burred edge on.)
For free ship.i.might just try that $20 one. I mostly do repairs so it's kinda in the spot or on the go. I don't have space and a table yet for projects.

Ahhh, I thought something like that.

I just bought one as well. I was thinking after I messaged you, and looked at the $20 and thought, "well, I can buy this, and make a longer base, or something like it with this one." So now I'm trying to come up with a modular system that I can clamp into another drill press jig I use.

Would you you use it often? If so, I'd say make it into a portable system with some 3/4 ply, some #8 1-½" screws, and a toggle clamp, and boom. Lol. Maybe mount it inside vehicle? Or make an easy little box that unfolds to lay out a jig system to let you have it portable.

But you are ahead of the game where I was years ago. I think I paid $20 for some plastic no-name brand. When I first tried one of these. Then I wasted money on a Kreg, but didnt realize how big a waste it was until I got the Massca. It spoiled me. Now when I'm digging to dowel and I'm making less expensive jigs, it makes corner joints look like a cut joint, or can make cool patterns in wood forcertain situations...and it's all ridiculously easy.

Did you see their clamps? They look cool but yikes, they're pricey.... and I only have 1 arm that functions, so I think I have more clamps than screws. Lol. I'd have to see one, and feel it in my hand before dropping that much on 1 clamp lol.

Well, sorry for the Novella I just wrote. Hope it works well for ya... I'll let ya know if I dont like mine for any reason, but I'm prone to user error lol.

heir clamps look cool, but yeesh that's pricey.)

Op you could have waited and this set would drop to 50% off which would be where it needs to be.
These normally went on sale for $75 for Black Fridays with a free bonus clamp, so I held off too.
Store near me just dropped to $31, so I pulled the trigger. Thx OP
