This is a great value
This laptop has an extra slot for either M.2 or 2.5" Drive and upgradeable RAM. Display is the same one found in Legion7. Pretty good price for the laptop. It was $999 during Black Friday.

I'm having a hard time deciding on this one here or the Ryzen 7 on ebay that was linked earlier. I'm only really interested in gaming on it.. what are some people's thoughts between the two?

Maybe I just need someone to tell me what to do, hah
This Legion 5 was one of the best buys as an all purpose for at work and games - very good build quality, features and performance (screen, fast gpu, etc).
Best laptop in the $900-$1000 range, imo. That ryzen7 Rtx 2060 is $70-100 too high at $1100, but atleast it's sold at a B&M store WM. [walmart.com].

If all you care about is to play games, then there are a few other options based on price, and ryzen cpu is not too important...Intel is good enough.
Gateway at Walmart is $800, but only worthwhile at $700 or less, since they cut back on ram, storage, and screen is 120hz not as bright and color accurate.
Or spend between $1000-$1260, on any of the rtx 3060 laptops(MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, HP omen), since they will be slightly faster than most Rtx 2060 options.
Some future discounted more premium rtx 2060 laptop models may be worth $1000-1100 eg. Msi ge75, Asus strix. And rtx 2070 for $1150-1200 :MSI ge75, gl75, gl65, Dell g7, HP omen, legion7, Alienware.

Received it this morning. Man this sucker is built like a rock. I am impressed with the quality on this one. Screen is very bright.

Pretty happy with everything so far.

I'm asking because i am in the same boat and i'm considering doing the same thing. the keyboard layout alone is almost enough to justify returning and buying this one. not having a normal number pad is driving me nuts.
Just making sure there isn't any blatant downside to the 5 vs the y540
Hopefully you went through with getting the 5. I got mine yesterday and I MUCH prefer the 5 over Y540. Well worth the $50 IMO.

Got mine too. First thing I'm missing, though, is a fingerprint reader or IR camera for login! Pretty common feature now and having to manually enter credentials seems so...last year! Smilie

But I agree -- solid as a rock! I took the back off to upgrade memory to 32GB and saw the "hidden" 2nd m.2 slot where the SATA drive is. Turns out you can put 2 x 2280 NVMe SSD's in this thing!

I'm liking the 240hz also...I use mine for productivity, not gaming.

I bought a couple of these 32GB kits [newegg.com] from Newegg back in Jan 2021.

The price has practically doubled since then! Holy cow! I paid $90 for each kit!

i did. fan is much quieter on the 5. and i ran some benchmarks tests and seem to get noticably better results on the five as well. It definitley doesnt show fingerprints as bad.If i really had to nitpick, the keyboard backlight is pretty cheap looking compared to the y540. i can definitley live with that trade off though
