A number of reviews claim that this is counterfeit or old. This is generally a good brand but on Amazon I'm not sure we always get the real product. I guess if you feel that it's genuine, this is a good price and it's sure convenient.

I used candidae for well over a decade with no problems. I don't know how it is now especially with all the bad reviews lately. Dog food is kind of a scary unregulated industry and it's more trial and error for me.

Just buy from chewy then? That's what I did at least.

I just read up on peas and lentils in dog food, and how a high concentration is what is leading to the 'grain free' heart issue. I am looking for a dog food that will help. My dog suffers from yeast all over. Even on salmon and sweet potato Canidae, it is still bad. The skin is no longer inflamed, but smells bad after 3 days. I have spent hundreds at the vet and on dog foods. I just don't know what to do anymore. Continuing to bathe him 2x per week with medicated shampoo is not an option. I can't take the stench anymore, and I have to constantly wash his bedding and clean my carpets. It affects my allergies too. I just can't figure out what he's allergic to. It has been 3 years now.

We've found our dachshund has chicken, corn and oddly enough chlorine allergy. Chicken even if it's just a lower ingredient such as chicken fat or chicken meal turns his skin black and corn gives him small lumps on his lower back. Tap water treated with chlorine or baby carrots wich are washed in chlorinated water were further culprits. We give him spring water or destilled water from gallon jugs and omit the chicken or any fowl and corn and he's been doing well.

My dog had very bad ear allergies, and we spent thousands trying to figure out the source or an effective treatment. We finally tried Blue Pearl emergency pet clinic, and they were able to narrow it down and get the poor guy some relief. He's not suffering anymore, and is a new dog.

So I know a little bit about dog food ingredients and I am really weary of the "top choices" that site shows. Are they sponsored by manufacturers? I don't think that site has legitimate information.

One of their top dry dog foods is Purina Pro Plan which is basically rice, wheat, and corn.....dogs eat meat....

Stick with the brands that have had decades of testing and vets in house. Purina/hills/Royal canin.

My previous dog had really bad allergies and my vet put her on apoquel. Have you tried that? It worked wonders we could never really pinpoint the allergies either she thought it was just an accumulation of multiple allergies that would spike to yeast episodes, especially in the ears. The smell was horrible. We'd always get it under control with steroids but I didn't like giving her that, apoquel was safe to take year round as I understood it
