Arguably the best sounding headphones under $50. Also known as one of, if not the cheapest headphones you can experience Sound Stage. Best price shipped I've seem in a long time and direct from Monoprice too. Many people also get the brainwavz XL memory foam pads but I found the stock ones comfortable enough.

I've been wanting these for a while and waiting for a sale. Amazon has also price matched it now.

I have these already, for the price they are great. Bassy is an understatement, and its not muddy trash bass like beats by dre, these are like you're in a home theater with a 12" sub, you can feeeel it. It makes movies feel epic, music sounds great, in games it has good sound stage, good detail, in csgo I heard footsteps wayyyy better than any headset i've used, I knew exactly how far people were and where they were coming from. In games like battlefront 2 the pew pew pews and explosions made it feel like an event.
There are 2 cons to these headphones: 1. the stock pads aren't great, swapped them out for brainwaves xl pleather ones and haven't looked back. 2. the sensitivity is kinda low so you'll need either a pre-amp or an amp, nothing that strong but a little amplification will do this good. Also at first I felt like they had too much clamping force which annoyed me cause I wear glasses but you can bend them fully backwards and adjust how much clamp you want, wish I noticed that immediately rather then 2 months into use >_<..
If you like bass these are nice, I rock these with a neewer nw-7000 condensor mic and my gaming setup sounds way better than any sub $100 gaming headset.

You'd need a Y-adapter for mic and phones, and then a standalone mic (can't recommend on one but a short search should give you many, for any budget).

These are actually amazing for the price, I have owned headphones ranging from 100-500 dollars, and with some new pads(the ones they come with are ass) they get a lot of use when I want to listen to hip hop, and an amp actually does help these btw. Honestly with some 20 dollar aftermarket pads I can say for under 50 these are an amazing value.

great for hip hop or bass heavy music without being bloated bass sounding.

get these and brainwave pads and honestly you're solid for at home headphones.

How would these compare to Koss Porta Pros with Yaxi pads? I know they're entirely different style of headphones, but hoping someone can comment on sound quality.

So what is the point of these headphones compared to wireless Bluetooth $200 msrp headphones like razer opus, Sony xm3, or jbl elite 650btnc? Are these for just regular listening with 3.5mm jack and no active noise cancelling?

Looks like an AKG K240 knockoff.
Well if you're gonna knockoff something, might as well knock off the best sub 100 headphones on the market. k240s are so comfortable long term. I wonder how well these stack up.

If you would prefer a wide and airy sound like in live performances, the koss are great. They do lack sub bass though. The kph30i is my favorite of the koss, but portapro is nearly identical. If you want more sub bass and an inside of your head sound, then the monoprice are probably your choice. I hope that helps.

Completely agree. Out of the box, the bass is fun but overwhelming. Throw some Brainwavz round XL velours and these become an audiophile value monster at under $50.

Perfect timing! They are currently running a 20% off discount if we buy 2 [amazon.com]

What do you guys recommend for a starter set of pads? I am seeing so many different styles and materials.

brainwavz xl are the go to since they are comfortable memory foam and will fit any ear size. They come in a couple variants: sheepskin, pleather, micro suede, velour, hybrid, and perforated. I went with pleather because I didn't want to change the sound profile. Sheepskin is softer but could make the treble go up a bit, micro suede and velour can tone them down a bit as they are more airy. Hybrid and perforated will tone it down a bit and keep it a bit more cool. So it's up to you, if you enjoy the bass I'd stick with pleather, depending on your climate hybrid or perforated could be good in warmer weather. If you think the bass is a bit too much then velour or micro suede is the way to go. Personally I like the bass, feels like a big subwoofer which gives music, movies, and games a more epic feel. I'll give you an example, Mad Max Fury Road is a cool movie, first time I watched I thought it was great, then I rewatched it wearing these headphones and I got goosebumps. You can feel the deepness in Max's voice, you can feel the rumble of the v8s, when one of the war boys sprays his mouth with silver paint, WITNESS ME!!! and jumps off with his exploding spears and blows up one of the pursuing cars, I felt that. There really isn't anything in this price bracket that has that feel.
