The Switch is a portable console. If I can buy a 512GB SD card and store every single game I own for it, it becomes even more portable.
And when it's in docked mode, nothing beats being able to switch between games like you're browsing your Steam library.
Plus, a lot of people have small children or pets. The bitterant they added to dissuade putting the cartridges in your mouth isn't that effective (put your tongue to one of the cartridges if you're skeptical).

It's apparently the same price on the eShop too (set account location to Oregon for no tax).
All time low for Amazon selling Mario Tennis is $29.99 according to DekuDeals, but it doesn't say when. $40 is still a bit high considering it's hard to find online matches for this game.
In any case, Amazon and eShop are matching prices on all of these.
