Things this TV has going for it:

Cheapness for its size. That is all.

If that is your only criteria, then perfect. For me, it would be a waste of money. Normal price is $630 everywhere else so meh.

Too bad they don't have a middle base stand instead of the legs. This is a great price, but won't fit on my tv stand. Also, this is too big to fit in my car.
Purchasing legs is one option or you can expand the top of your existing stand.

My TV stand was designed for a 32" CRT TV and it holds a full size media desktop in the cabinet below. Kept me from purchasing a new TV with a non-center mount stand for a while. When I finally needed a new TV, I ended up getting two 48" shelves from Lowes and velcro-ed them to the top of the stand. The colors actually matched so now the stand looks like it has wings. Good enough to hold most 65" TVs.

Neither. You missed the boat on the great deals they had months ago for the same price.
What was cheapest price for this tv then?

All the OLED defenders just want you to be miserable like them (spending $3000 to deal with earc issues, black crush, hdcp issues, and all but two uhd players looking horrible)

If I wait for Black Friday am I likely to see a significantly better (more than $50 additional savings) deal on a 70"+ well-reviewed TV from a reputable brand?

New to the TV deal hunting world - haven't bought one in over 10 years!

I see a lot of people in here saying "Wait for Black Friday..."

Black Friday is not prime TV purchasing time, unless you are looking for a one-off model as a doorbuster. Most retailers have the same deals they have the rest of the season for their regular stock during Black Friday...everyone just assumes the deals are better than usual because "Black Friday".

Your most aggressive TV Sales times are the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, and generally now (February/March is when new models come out, so if you are okay gambling on stock and waiting for the model you want you might be able to snag a great clearance price on 'last years models'...but they might also go completely out of stock and you're stuck without).

The crazy deals you see as Door Busters on Black Friday are 95% models that are made specifically for that retailer just for Black Friday. They usually will not carry those same models year round. They are made to be as cheap as possible and tend to have a very high failure rate. If it dies quickly or is bad right out of the box, they won't have a replacement model for you so you just get a refund. Of course, some of these are fine and hold up over time, so I'll get plenty of people telling me about their Black Friday TV they've had for five years and it's great (which is how it SHOULD be). I just know that I worked at an electronics retailer for over a decade and door buster TVs were some of the most returned items we dealt with year round (again, not all of them, but just a much higher rate than any other products).

Best recommendation: set yourself a budget, do some research, and be patient. Find out what features are "must haves" and which are "I'd like but can live without". Also remember that when comparing things in the store, when you take one home you won't have the other one there to compare it to. Unless you are used to looking at the differences and your eyes are tuned in, if it looks fine at the store it will look fine at home, even if there was one that looked "better".

Consider that your question can also be posed as "should I spend under 20 cents per day (days until black friday divided into $50) from now until Black Friday in order to enjoy a 70-inch television every day" instead of whatever I have in my living room now.

For just 19 cents per day, you can sponsor a 70-inch television in need of a new home...please, act now. [[[cue Sara Mclachlan music]]]

Well, pretty close but what I am saying there are better deals like TCL 6 series or Hisense 8 series.

It is very tempting but LG focus is on their flagship OLED and not on the lower end.

But you say...look at all the positive reviews....and I say big deal if you get it for promotion which is probably a really fantastic deal.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tv so clear we love it! So happy with our purchase!!!

say what...there are OLED folks that are miserable. I though the only issue would be logo burn in like the CNN logo.
