This lappy is in "S' mode and is limited to MS apps.
Does anyone know if this laptop has enough horsepower to run Office and Outlook? Sounds like a stupid question maybe, but MS and Woot have both burned me in the past. : )

s mode can be converted to full windows https://support.microsoft.com/en-...1bfb28a307

the issue on this laptop is the memory. 4gb windows will run but it leaves little headroom for other apps, so for an example, you could expect 2 to 4 tabs in chrome to run fine, past that you may see slow downs. Also when using this, expect to only have one or two applications running at time

This will not age well. Cheap garbage is still garbage, stay away people. Processor is from 2016. Would you pay this much for a 5 year old machine? In tech years that's forever

You can easily switch to "normal" mode so you can run any apps. You just need to sign into the MS App store to remove the "S" limitation and turn it into normal "Home" mode.

I'll have to agree with that statement. I was lucky enough to get that Lenovo $150 deal from Walmart around the holidays and THAT was a good deal. Newer processor, larger SSD and lower price. While this one is still pretty inexpensive, you're getting a pretty low-end laptop that's almost unusable out of the box and not worth investing a penny in it to make upgrades.

These aren't even made by Acer (who owns the Gateway name) It is made by:

SHENZHEN BMORN TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD

More appropriate name may have been Great Value or Equate.

EDIT: Sorry.. there was a cheap sub $200 Gateway on sale on WM website with similar specs, that also had 1 year 365.
