Definitely a good deal in terms of price but I'd be cautious about roast dates. The ones I see in my local whole foods are usually a few months old. Many of the reviews that got shipping from Amazon also mentioned that.

Like the chips sale that happened earlier? Would be interesting. Have you tried Intelligentsia? Bought two bags of Stumptown because I've heard of them but wouldn't mind trying new brands as well. Decided to suspend my Coffee Trade subscription as these prices beat it by a long shot.

Intelligentsia is super solid. Especially at that price.

Intelligentsia are great. Definitely in the same league as Stumptown.

Went with a bag of Intelligentsia. Thanks to the two comments above me. Been experimenting with cold brew so it takes more beans to brew, so doesn't hurt to try. Thanks all!

reviews on both the stumptown and intelligentsia suggest amazon is dumping old coffee, just have to be willing to fight it out with cs if so.

Unfortunately the printed "expiry dates" are meaningless and worse, misleading. Depending on your method of making coffee and your level of snobbiness, anything after 3-5 weeks of "roast date" is the practical expiry date. Luckily, stumptown and intelligentsia are honest enough to put a roast date on the bags, but then they also add the more misleading expiry date.

Would this roast work for espresso?

Nvm, see that this is best suited for drip.
