Wa eyeing this card for a while because I eat out alot. But US bank has the Altitude go card whick gives you 4x on restaurants. It might be a better card for you if restaurants are your thing. It also has a sign up bonus of 200 but you have to spend 1000
Applied and instantly approved. $200 cash bonus for $500 spend in 3 months is a great deal and free money for me. I may not otherwise use the card often, but no annual fee, cash back incentive, and I always autopay off my balances so there's nothing to lose. Thanks for posting OP!
Out of the 3 credit bureaus which one do they check ?

All three
All three? Really? I've applied & been approved for several credit cards and auto loans (a $52K loan just last September) and all them used just one credit bureau. I know this because they will always deny me because my credit is locked and I have to unlock the specific credit bureau they use. I'm tempted to apply for this card so I can do a real time check on my locked credit.
does Capital One have a limit on how many of their own credit card that you can have?
I already have two other cards from them... just wondering if applying for a third one will be accepted?
also.... does Capital One consider Walmart and Target to be "grocery stores" for the cash back purpose? lately, I buy my groceries from those two places only.(milk, bread, eggs, cereals, vegetables, etc)

Ditto here...I don't think any credit card company checks all three lol
The notorious Cap1 pulling from all 3 credit bureaus is no news for more than a decade. They even report business accounts to personal credit reports.

Is there any downside to opening an account and then closing it afterwards just for the bonus?
Why do that? I have like 5 cards, I only use 2. However 5 cards combined I have about 40k in credit meaning unless I spend more than 4000 at a time, I'll never hit the usage of 10% which will bump my score up over time. If you consistently use over 10%, it'll drop your score over time.
I understand that I am not eligible for this offer if:
My application is received after this offer expires, is incomplete, unreadable, inaccurate or cannot be verified.
My address is not in one of the following locations: the 50 United States, Washington, D.C., or a U.S. military location.
My address is a correctional institution.
My monthly income (my disclosed total annual income divided by 12) doesn't exceed my monthly rent/mortgage payment by at least $425. Or, Capital One otherwise determines that I am unable to make my monthly payments.
I am under 18 or do not have a valid Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.
I have applied for a Capital One credit card 2 or more times in the last 30 days.
I have 5 or more open credit card accounts with Capital One.
I have a past due Capital One credit card account.
I am over my credit line on a Capital One credit card.
I have had a Capital One credit card that charged off within the past year.
I have a non-discharged bankruptcy (one that is still unresolved).

1. Capital one customer service SUCKS. It's always long holds and horrible people.
2. Their reward benefits are low and often matched by others.
3. Their website is so dang slow like it's built on top of an old one with big graphics instead.
Anyway, my experience 1 year after. I've stopped using the card.
