In my brain, wireless speakers/subwoofers would never be as good as the wired version (all other things equal). I definitely don't need a wireless subwoofer as my sub is right next to my amp but I am in the market for a new Klipsch subwoofer. Do I want this?
I disagree-I have one of these wired and on the other end of the living room I have this wireless one. Both of them sound awesome – will shake the photographs off the wall.
Great deal. $247 after shipping while these are going for $450-$700 everywhere I looked. Reviews are good too. Scooped one up!
I would never base these on the MSRP -- Klipsch is almost always discounted 50% (or more) to give a higher value to the brand
If you don't need Wireless, the Klipsch R-12SW (wired model) regularly goes for $149-169 at Costco, so check there -- also great because of the return policy if you don't like it.
I have 2x of the R-12SW and 1x of the R-120SW. The R-120 is a newer model and a better subwoofer when on sale (a few times a year, it drops to $199).
I found the R-12SW's to be a bit too boomy opposed to a tighter bass. Apparently the R-10SW has the tighter sound, but I haven't tried it.
Definitely a passable subwoofer and great for the price. I'd recommend the wired if you don't NEED wireless. I have a 50 foot RCA cables on one of mine (going all around the edges of the room, with the sub placed at the back) which saved me about $60 over this model.
The wireless model is great if you have a closet or similar with an AVR and don't want to run a cable all across it though

I thought this too but i cannot tell the difference between my wired and wireless subs and i listen to a fair amount of music regularly.
This is a fantastic deal. The 12-sw (wired) one was 180 at Costco so this 12-swi (wireless) for 230 is a no brainer. The freedom to put it anywhere in the room is worth that $50

Thanks for the info, good to know. You're right, currently on sale for $169 at Costco for the wired version. I'd like to mount the sub behind the couch which is a ways away from my receiver. My floors are tile so not much I can do to hide unless I go through the ceiling. Tough decision but I'm thinking I'll stick with the wireless for a few bucks more.
So I'm pretty sure I have this or a similar one that came as part of a 5.1 set. The connector that plugs into the avr broke off somehow in the jack and I had to literally drill it out. I couldnt find any wireless transmitters for this anywhere. The sub is close enough to the Amp that I probably don't need to replace it but I'm curious if anybody else had a problem and if wired is just as good or better?
Have 2 Wireless and 2 Wired Versions (got from Amazon deal) of this Sub. The wireless one can be "wired" too if needed so for those who are worried, it can be wired up. The wireless feature just makes this very portable and easier to place around the area. If I need one more, I will not be hesitating to get this, really good price.
It doesn't go below 25 Hz (Specs say 29 Hz), I don't have problems with it but I figured I say it before someone says it's bad because it's cant get that low. For my usage (Home Theater, 9.2.4), it is amazing.

You are still limited by the fact that you're tethered to an AC outlet, so there is that aspect of it not being truly wireless with unlimited placement options. This seems pretty obvious, obviously.

Then your brain isn't aware that the sub channel in a 5.1 mix of Dolby Digital Plus is designed to use less bandwidth than the other channels. Same as ATMOS over Dolby Digital. No need for high-end height speakers if using those formats as they are 10% the allotted bandwidth of the full-range channels. So giving a crapola about wired vs wireless in these areas is about the largest waste of time to think about in the audio world.
P.S.... The wireless module is built into the sub. You can still use wired. On top of that you can connect their wireless transmitter to anything as well. I actually use this sub for two sets of speakers. In the rare case where I want both to play, but don't want to overload the sub with a wired signal and a wireless one, I have a sub volume dial for a car inline and just mute the wired output when needed.
