I got the Cyberpunk version of this back in November. Turns out it was one of the best ways to play that game. With the recent hardware shortages, this is a great stop gap solution. Stadia won't die before you can finish this game on it (ofc given you actually play it). When/if it does the Chromecast is still a competent streaming device.

All in all I'm very glad I got it and didn't listen to all the naysayers.

People like to shit on Stadia, but if you have a good connection it's pretty good. Playing Cyberpunk on it was a better experience than those who played it on Xbox One or PS4.

Got it. I just wanted to mention that many actually like the functionality of the stadia controller while using it with other platforms. I had the Luna controller and on paper, I prefer the Stadia controller over the Luna controller for the following reasons:

1. For this deal, the controller is essentially free (I had to pay $50 to get the Luna controller)
2. Stadia allows headset output through either it's 3.5mm port or it's USB-C port and both ports work when playing non-stadia games (I believe Luna headset jack only works with Luna games)
3. Stadia controller has built in rechargable batteries which seem to last a good amount of game time (Luna uses AAA batteries)
4. Stadia controller has built in BT technology though it is not presently working to allow you to connect your controller to non-Stadia games
5. Finally, I'm used to DS4 controllers with the stadia toggle layout mimics

At this time it will not work wirelessly with games outside of the stadia ecosystem. You should be able to get the Stadia controller to work with your chromecast if it's is wired. The stadia controller does have BT built in, but at this time google will need to provide a software/firmware update to allow the controller to connect to non-stadia devices via a BT connection.

Thanks for the reply. Seems pretty sketchy to me. Would have been nice if Google provided you the controller and chromecast before releasing the game, but I guess if they did that you could always immediately cancel reciept of the game after getting the hardware making it essentially free with no strings attached.

Does anyone have any idea how long it will take for Google to send out the promo code after RE Village's release date? I'm assuming once ordering the Premiere hardware it will take about a week to receive.

If it's like Cyberpunk, the game released on the Dec 10th. I got the email to claim the hardware on the 12th. It was delivered at my door Dec 17th. Yes, it would have been nice to get the controller first. Delayed a week of play. Smilie

Thanks for the info. Did anyone decide not to claim the Cyberpunk game due to how buggy it was? If so, did you need to return the hardware? Hopefully RE7 won't be a buggy mess like Cyberpunk was out the gate.

Tried that before my last post and I'm not seeing it. I did cancel stadia but it's still active until the 25th but maybe that's playing into me not seeing it. Not sure.

Glad to see the offer still seems available. "Needed" a newer Chromecast. Not super crazy about Stadia so far, nor this game, but love the idea of gaming more comfortably anywhere in the house... shame it hasn't seemed to take off as well, and Google seems to need to communicate better with devs
