There are a lot of reviews saying that they are expired. But I got the holler mountain variety from the sale a week or two ago, and it was roasted exactly one month prior to receiving it.

Nice find. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and prefer fresh beans..... I use the 'Bottomless' service, but this is worth checking out.

My daughter lives in Stumptown (Portland) and I forwarded this to her.
She said, "I can get beans 8 months old or beans 8 hours old. Hmm."

I'm an East Coaster who loves Stumptown and grabbed some every time I was in Oregon. Founders is some of my favorite coffee and have gotten it from Amazon. I got a bag last week that was roasted on 12/22/2020...nearly 3 months old. I had already opened it when I realized otherwise would have asked for my money back.

West Coaster here. Stumptown is some seriously amazing coffee, but like others have said - old beans taste completely different than fresh. If it is in a vacuum sealed bag, it might be okay.

Good coffee should be treated like produce: don't buy it unless it comes from someone you trust (ideally the roasters themselves), or you can visually inspect the coffee bag in person and check the Roast Date on the back to verify that it's fresh.

I'm fortunate to live close to some pretentious grocery stores that carry coffee like Stumptown or Intelligentsia on the shelves, and can grab the bag with the most recent harvest date (assuming it wasn't three months out already by the time it hits the shelf).

This stuff is great, used to use for espresso. Agree with the other comments, I bought some intelligentsia and stump town last week at the other deal, I knew it might be a little 'old'. I don't have them in front of me but I believe they were about a month and a half after roasting, which is not great. I am just dealing with it because they were at about 50% price, but would highly suggest you try these coffees shortly after roasting, and with Amazon you're rolling the dice on roast date.

Bought the previous deal on these bags and the bags expired in a week. Amazon was great at issuing a return.

Yeah, freshly roasted beans are ideal. I usually drive to Peets to get some. Next best would be coffee beans packed in nitrogen. It'll get the beans to oxidize less while in storage.

So I guess the vacuum seal doesn't do anything?

I bought 4 bags of the Holler Mountain from the last sale, they arrived and were stamped as roasted on 02/01/21. I am fine with that. In for 4 more of these!
